If there were someone close, that had the card reader set up on their machine, maybe they could help you with the check out.
I would suggest your DME, but if they are no better than mine, they would be useless. Mine kept my card for three weeks, so I got set up to do it myself. Could do it by mail, but it's so slooow. Anyway it's options. Jim

Exciting Update!
I loaded the software onto an old computer that should be donated to the Goodwill, but I haven't got around to it.
The same cards (after being erased), work juuuuuuuuuuust fine in the same card reader on that computer.
Then, I took the same gear over to my usual computer, and voila: 8002040F rears its ugly head.
Conclusion: something evil still lurks on my hard drive. I thought I had purged all the nasty crap off of there, using all sorts of wonderful cleaners, but apparently there is still a stowaway.
How does one do that dllcache removal trick?
Any other DEEP CLEAN techniques to remove any remnants of my unwelcome guest?
Thanks again to all for excellent suggestions.
I'm starting to get happy again.

So, how do you run Encore Pro on a Mac, Chuck? We know how to run it in Linux, but can you run a virtual machine on a Mac?

Bill

You should try uninstalling everything, EncorePro and the driver for the card reader. Then do a clean install. Something may have corrupted your Encore install.
