Card Reader from Ebay - did I get taken?

I recently was able to purchase a card reader and software (or so I thought) from Ebay. I ended up getting a card reader called I-N-F-I-N-E-E-R and a Respironics CD that says SmartCard Reader/Writer Version 2.0. On the CD are 3 files:

SM Release CD.sfv
autorun.inf
setup.exe

When I try to run the setup I get an error that says:

Could not find Encore Pro Applicatoin
This installation requires Encore Pro 1.3 or greater

The seller has been helpful and is checking with the person he got it from, it was marked as new and the CD is sealed, but I'm not very hopeful of it getting worked out.

Alot of searching of these forums has uncovered some answers, apparantly the Encore Pro is available only as a 'controlled' download which requires an account with Respironics. I haven't been able to find the Encore Pro software anywhere else, and I've just discovered that I probably need the 1.6 version anyway since I have the RemstarPro M Series machine.

Quick question: Am I screwed?

Thanks, Mike

PS: This forum is the greatest. I've been lurking since I started on CPAP, way back 7 weeks ago, and its amazing how much knowledge there is here. I'm glad I found you guys.

Depends on how much you paid for it.

What you have is the card reader (Infineer) for the Encore Pro software and the card reader driver CD.
You don't have the Encore Pro software to download the card or interpret the downloaded data.

Mike, you didn't get "taken" unless the seller advertised the "software" as being Encore Pro itself. And even then, the seller might have not been deliberately trying to mislead -- maybe just didn't know himself/herself. The files you listed are for installing the driver for the card reader.

What you've got so far (Infineer card reader and the CD to install the reader's driver) sounds right. But, you also have to have the Encore Pro software. The Encore Pro program wouldn't be on the card reader driver installation CD. Please check your private messages -- button at upper right of this page.

As long you never paid more than $30.80 you are ahead, now $100 for the program will take you the rest of the way. Jim
