I’m now settled in on the dreamwear gel pillows, and until there’s a full face hybrid mask, I’ll be keeping the dreamwear full face mask use to a minimum when the gel pillows cause irritation.
Have you seen/tried the Innomed/Respcare Hybrid?

Thanks, Pugsy. I've made note of the Innomed mask and I kneel down beside my CPAP machine and bed and pray that Philips comes out with a Dreamwear version of this. I'm still pretty green on all of this, but there is definitely to aversions I have, one being anything crossing the bridge of my nose and the other being a hose in front of my face. At some point, I'll need to get over it as I've already found that I can successfully overcome some challenges in getting a good nights sleep.

Ahhh. I totally understand. I too have aversions to anything touching my nasal bridge area so it simply won't be happening.

And yes...the hose coming out the front of hard plastic near the nose...can be problematic for some people.

If it's any consolation to you....I have tried the Innomed Hybrid and the DreamWear Full Face mask....the Innomed lasted one night only...and the DreamWear FFM is at least in my box of personals that I keep "just in case I might need it" and I did use it for 1 week to see if I could even sleep with it.
But I figured I would be in remiss if I didn't at least point you to the Innomed....just because I didn't like it doesn't mean others won't like it. I try to keep my personal feelings out of the pointing.

And yes...when I did initially try the DreamWear FFM the very first thing through my mind was "why didn't they do a gel pillow version"...but no one at Respironics has bothered to ask me. Don't know why except that despite their claims of wanting to hear actual cpap users...I don't think that the people who design their masks really use cpap or listen to users.
I have had the fleeting thought of trying to marry the cushion to some gel pillows but haven't got around to actually looking at it close enough to see if I could even do it.

Seems that I am late to the party over the Dreamware FFM but I would like to jump in anyway.

I have been on CPAP since December 2011 with a diagnosis of central apnea and have gotten really good results with a ResMed 9 VPAP ASV and recently it was replaced with the new ResMed 10 ASV.

I have fallen in and out of love with a lot of masks over the past 7 years, trying to deal with my mouth breathing and my sensitivity to anything stuck inside my nose or enclosing it, and since every FFM I have ever tried resulted in loud leaks which could never be eliminated, I have been using the original standard Dreamware successfully since it came out, so that my nose is very, very happy; but my mouth breathing continues to be a constant challenge. I have run the gamut of chinstraps, neck brace, and taping.

Until the Dreamware FFM came out, nothing gave me satisfaction with my mouth breathing except combining the original Dreamware with a headband over my mouth which had to be constantly readjusted numerous times during the night in order to keep it in place. That is why I got excited to try the Dreamware FFM and discovering that it is the first and only one piece solution which seems to work for me, so I would really like to keep using it.

One huge improvement over the original Dreamware is that, since the beginning of my cpap use and trial of many masks, I have been plagued with back straps that keep sliding upward and top straps that keep sliding forward; but the two straps of the Dreamware FFM seem to perfectly enclose the rounded back of my head; hence no slippage.

Another is that I really like the piece that fits over my mouth, because I have a moustache and a full beard (not as exaggerated or as long as my Rip Van Winkle image on cpaptalk) and the soft cushion of the mouthpiece feels really comfortable over my mouth, especially after I discovered that I can adjust the "tilt" of the mouthpiece to suit my own jaw by playing with the top and bottom straps, loosening one and tightening the other.

But I am having one big problem. Periodically, I am assuming whenever my new ResMed ASV attacks a suspected oncoming central with a sharp blast of air, I get a loud, vibrating raspberry sound out of the side of the mouthpiece of the D/FFM, so loud that it wakes both of us up; and this is happening often enough that I am getting the "Red Face" every morning on my machine and bad reports on SleepyHead. ("Your mask is leaking way too much… etc.!") Remzzzs samples didn't help a bit, and taping under the mouthpiece didn't seem to make any difference either, not to mention being painful to remove, even using Micropore and running warm water to remove it in the morning.

If at all possible, I am determined to make the D/FFM my mask of choice, as it has come closer to solving my mouth breathing than anything else tried over the years, while retaining the comfort of the fit under my nose. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to deal with the periodic loud raspberries? (Pending a hoped-for solution, I have ordered 3 different kinds of firing range density earplugs from Amazon for myself and my sig/other as she too is suffering from disturbed sleep.)

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Best wishes, Nate :D

Thanks, Pugsy and Nate!

Good stuff and looks like the cheek issue isn't necessarily a deal breaker but certainly an annoyance.

I'll be going back to the DW/FFM at some point but as mentioned I'm still really green and I currently have a really stable base to learn from with the DW/Gel Pillows. I've got my first week with an AHI under 2 (1.28 avg) and I think once I have that kind of stability over a month, I'll work on screwing everything up.

Thanks much for the thoughtful reviews on DW/FFM, they are definitely helpful and I'm guessing it will be a solid product for lots of people.

I think the DreamWear FFM is a great design except for one problem. When I first got the mask, I slept three nights with it, and there were no leaks and very low AHI. It's so easy to adjust, and I like the hose attachment on the top of the head. I still use the mask for an occasional one-hour nap, and the results are very good.

Now, the problem. After three nights of sleeping with it, the silicone seal that fits between the nose and upper lip began to cut a painful sore at the bottom middle of my nose.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you try a mask liner?

Yes, but it didn't help. Made it worse. I eventually gave up on their FFM and went back to the original Dreamware with Micropore tape over my mouth and I think the tape is gradually retraining me to keep my mouth shut because some mornings now I get good reports even when I leave the tape off.

That is a bummer. I had issues with the ffmask myself. I keep it as a backup. :)

By the way, the photo to the left is an avatar intended as a bit of humor regarding supersleeper Rip Van Winkle, not a photo of me. My moustache and beard are both very short and closely trimmed. When discussing maskfit, the avatar sometimes confuses the issue.

I had the exact same problem. That's why it is sitting in a drawer in favor of the Resmed F30 when I am in need of a FFM. Really liked it, otherwise, but that strip between the upper lip and nose needs to have a rolled edge or something.

Exactly.

I'm hoping they come out with a nasal pillows version of the same FFM. That would solve the problem.

Thank you all for the FFM reviews. I will be trading my P10 Nasal for the Dreamware Full Face very soon, because of too many leaks and mouth breathing. My supplier is Aerocare, and they require an in-person fitting, which will happen prior to the end of this month.
