I also had problems with the back strap slipping on my hair until I read a tip from someone here to make a ponytail, then put the mask on so that the lower back strap lies under the ponytail. I then let the ponytail fall loose over the strap. Works like a charm.

I have short hair and it is thin/fine.

I tried putting just the top part in a tiny ponytail (about an inch long!) and that seemed like it would work. Until I woke up around 1:00 with the strap pulling up against the ponytail and feeling like I was being scalped!

I think I had too little hair up for it to work, but just don't have enough. Good idea though

Try a skullcap or buff if you are follicularly challenged.
The cloth should help stabilize your headgear.

Cub4bearin, I would suggest it may be the hose is getting tangled up or you are pulling on it while sleeping which is pulling the mask off of your face. I would suggest getting a hose holder to hold the hose up out of your way along with a stretchy material the hose can move with as you move. I purchased one on Amazon and love it. It folds flat, travels well and has a flat part on the bottom that you put between the mattress and your mattress base. I use it daily, even when travelling and it has greatly cut down on my leak numbers. The inside has a bungee type cord that stretches as you turn and move and the contraption is made out a very light metal with an arm that hangs over you while you are sleeping.

Sure thing! Not sure where you are located but I am in Canada. I bought it on Amazon.ca and unfortunately they look to be sold out right now. But here is the link.

Here is the link on Amazon.com. You may have more luck there.

This hose holder didn't work for me at all. Very flimsy and I tossed it. I do see it has a 4 1/2 star rating, so I guess it does work for a lot of people.

It works for me, but I agree that it's
very flimsy. It's probably okay provided you (1) leave it in place (don't try to take it apart and put it together again) and (2) don't put too much stress on it by moving around a lot in your sleep.

Odd, the one I purchased is not flimsy at all. Once the metal sections are together I would have a hard time bending it and I am not considered deficient on the strength side of things... It has also never come apart on me. In fact, at times it can be challenging to take the sections apart! But I just wiggle them a bit and they come apart eventually. Perhaps we have hose holders from different manufacturers even though the design might be the same? I would describe mine as being quite sturdy.

I remember that mine was plastic... not metal. Perhaps that's the difference.

Ahh. Definitely then. Mine is some kind of metal, not plastic.
OP, before you make your purchase if you haven't already that would be something you should double check with the seller. Though with Amazon's excellent return policies I can't see you having an issue if you did return it, no matter what the situation.

Okay, one suggestion here...Of the nasal pillow masks that I've used, the TAP PAP has had the lowest leak numbers for me. When I look at my cpap LCD display in the morning, I usually see "0 lpm" for the 95% leak number. The mask doesn't require any attachments other than being anchored to your upper jaw teeth. So you don't need the usual straps on your head. Assuming that your upper teeth are in good health. It is a little odd, since the mask goes through your lips, which can lead to some drooling with some people (like me). But, for me, it has been the most stable, least leaky nasal pillow mask that I've used.
Not sure how it would work for a stomach sleeper, of course, since I'm a side sleeper, but I move around quite a lot at night. So it's probably going to be fine. On the other hand, it is an acquired taste, not everyone likes it. And it takes some work to initially set it up, boil and bite, essentially. Something to try, though, and if you like it, you should be able to control your leaks very well. I'm not in love with it, but it is doing the job for me at the moment.

I got one of the Amazon cheapos several years ago, and it lasted about a year and then broke at the base. But it was sturdy before it broke off (due to metal fatigue from bending). So I got another one, and they had reinforced the connection between the base and the vertical piece this time. Still using that one...and got a third one to use for travel, since they're easy to take apart, pack, and re-assemble. That one also has the reinforced base connection and has lasted for years.
Never seen one of these in plastic, but you never know *smile*. I agree that plastic most likely wouldn't last long, or stay in place as well.

I just wanted to re-emphasize that sometimes a great mask takes time and work to fit correctly.
In my case, I had the right mask from the beginning, but it took me a smaller headgear and 6 weeks to get it right on a regular basis. I fought a LOT with it for the first few weeks. Most people would have given up. I did not, but only because I knew it was me, not the mask. In my case, the sleep tech at the lab had fitted the same style mask on me for my sleep study. I slept over 5 hours straight, with no leaks. So, I knew it was possible for this mask to fit well. I don't know if the sleep tech had smaller headgear or made it work with the standard. For me, switching to smaller headgear was a huge improvement for me.
So, don't always give up on a mask quickly if the only problem is leaks.
