@JWalsh, a few points:
1) I think it is great you are trying to think of ways to improve therapy. Many great products have come from trying to solve a therapy issues: PadACheek, SnuggleHose, PureSleep, HoseHolder, etc.
2) You raised flags on the forum due to asking the personal info up front and posting a link to your survey in two different threads. What has gone over better in the past with other people trying to work on new products is to do an initial survey without requiring their personal info, and if people don't respond, just let that survey go. This helps you build credibility with the forum. Also, I haven't clicked on your survey, however if you haven't, I suggest you include a disclaimer on what they are agreeing to be sent to their email in the future, and have an opt out option in later communication in order to comply with CAN-SPAM regulations. As a note, the best products we have found started by the creator focusing on trying to solve their own problem first, then getting feedback on that option.
3) Before starting a go fund me account, I really suggest you do some preliminary patent searches in this space. Unfortunately, it is pretty locked down.
4) Looking towards the positive, if you get through all that and you have a protype that is viable, the forum sponsor would be interested in reviewing it. We have helped other products come to market.

When I found the Holy Grail, the cup was pack full of mask liners, but I didn't need any, so I left them in it. Next time I checked, someone had taken it. Real mechanics don't use adjustable wrenches, they are for Hack Mechanics, and DTY. Pros use real tools, we like our knuckles, and our nuts not rounded. Thank you for that. I really appreciate your insight here. I'm in the process of filing for my patent application now. The search was good, there's nothing like my product on the market or in the patent process as we speak so I'm hoping it's accepted. The facts so far:
In the original post (yesterday) you are motivated to create the best mask liner ever.
You create a form to get input for the creation of this new product....so presumably there is no prototype of this.
Now, roughly 24 hours later, you and/or your attorney have completed a search to make sure you won’t be filing a patent on a product that already exists, for your product that doesn’t exist. Scratching my head.....
I have a family member who is an intellectual property attorney/partner for a massive global firm, so we have had some conversations about this process, but I am by no means an expert. I do know one thing, and it is that the patent needs to be filed for something much more specific than “The best darned mask liner ever.”
Then in a conversation with the SiestaMed guys about their patent process. They had to make some changes because their design was too close to a clothes dryer. Hopefully you see my point with all this.

i want to try these to see if they help with my Airfit F10 leak issues. however i can't afford them at the moment. And i am afraid it won't work and that money down the drain. Expensive trial and error on CPAP journey.

The lady from the local Apria (of all places!) tells patients to
tear a liner from a Viva paper towel.
Soft and absorbent--it does work.
For long-time use, there are liners from Pad a Cheek.
I didn't need one for very long . . .
I tried some other liner (forgot the name)-not impressed/single use/slides off.
The market is pretty full--anything new would need to be a significant improvement.
No idea how that would happen.
I keep getting flashbacks of Airing . . .

I hear you, it's been constantly money down the drain for me. I have a drawer full of different liners I bought that were all pure nonsense and just ended up frustrating me further. I have several creams in there too that did nothing for me as well. I remember the sticker shock I had the day I went in to buy my ResMed Escape machine, $1800 (CDN) or something along those lines and it has never stopped, new buffer, new head gear, liners, tubes. It's been pricey for sure.
