You seem to have other issues, such as thyroid and asthma. It's hard to know exactly which one(s) is(are) making you tired. I tried googling your machine, but I'm not sure I found the exact one. Thus, I don't know what your data capabilities are?
I suspect that you replaced the machine from 2004 at some point.
If your machine has data collecting capabilities, you can see whether you're having Apneas or Hyponeas (and how many and how long lasting).
If you've has your machine for over five years (and live in the U.S.), it is likely that your insurance will cover a new one.
THIS is the machine she's using. There are NO data capabilities. ONLY hours used.......PERIOD!
(Over the years, there where several models available, but hers has the two gray arrows < > below the LCD screen)

It is one of the Legacy models which we affectionately refer to as "Tanks". They can last a LOOOONG time because they were built that way.
But, yes, it would be great if she had a data-capable machine.

Thanks you guys, I like that the conversation went on without me, as I learned more about my machine and hose. I have the original cpap and hose that I bought in 2005 as my insurance didn't cover non OA cpap use.
The Aussie hose has been outstanding.
Since I turned the pressure up I've noticed something strange happening. My machine is running like its on a high cflex even though I have it on cpap, and its showing the cflex turned on 1 which should be the lowest.
In 2007 my machine was recalibrated and I had a new sleep study. I was living at 5000 ft and they said I had a higher than expected reaction to the altitude and they set my machine pressure at 17. They had given me a new mask that leaked the whole night, it was a SWIFT I tried all the pillow sizes and it never fit me. I think that's why my pressure went from 8 to 17.
I'm making an appointment with my primary care to order a new machine and put me on disability, I'm not functional with this little sleep. Insurance said the sleep study place is prohibited from ordering the machine.

How much sleep are you getting?
I'm considering trying adrafinil.

Just a thought: My doc was listening to me explain some troubling symptoms like yours, and he stopped me and said, "I hear depression in your voice." He was right, but it was situational. The situation went away and so did the depression. But excessive tiredness is one of the symptoms that is associated with depression.

USMCvet you try it first let me know. I'm scared of medications. I feel I sleep about every other night My chemistry degree turned worthless in the recession so I went back to school. I finished classes but I have to do overnight internship and get a phlebotomy license and study for a 9 subject board exam. I need a job beyond terribly bad. I'm too tired to do it all. That's how I found out a sleep disorder, sleeping into a car wreck, I worry about that happening again.

I think that's possible. Just graduating and feeling lost about my next steps. I asked doc for counseling but his office has been slacking a lot lately.

Seems like it's tougher on liver then provigil which it turns into when metabolized which is only thing holding me back, well besides my hypertension as well. I have fatty liver which liver enzymes seem to go along with weight and cholesterol.
I also average 8ish hours of sleep a night. I don't like medications myself if I don't need them. At the least I plan on talking with a pharmacist. Unfortunately I don't trust my doctor and I have to wait till March to get a new one.
If you have a doctor I suggest talking with them.

I've been more tired since I started using my machine too. I was just dealing with it due to health concerns until I read the article last year about there being no proven cardiac risk reduction. Now I'm wondering if I'm doing more harm than good.

I don't want to mislead, I felt terrifically fantastic on cpap for years, but in 2014 I had an overuse foot injury that led me to quit my job, and i ended up on state insurance that took me off my thyroid medication, I went back to school while my foot healed, I moved next to the school because I couldn't drive. The guy I rented from used so many chemicals I developed asthma last year. So I thought the fatigue was from lung damage, thought fatigue from thyroid finally realized its my cpap. Which has been described as being in the dark ages, has 25,000 hours on it. I love cpap and am just confused as why it doesn't seem to be working.
I'm no dr, and don't have apnea so I can't address if there's no health benefit nor why it doesn't relieve sleepiness in some people.

I've taken the adrafinil a few times now at only 300mg dosage but read you can go higher. For me it didn't make me feel super awake but took edge off of being tired and did help with brain function.

- Did you later go back on thyroid medication? Have you been tested and know for a fact it's not your thyroid?
- If your machine is malfunctioning it would cause trouble. If it is still functioning properly, regardless of its age, it is not likely the cause of your issues.
- Have you had things like your B12 and Vitamin D checked?
- Have you ever been tested for narcolepsy or have any symptoms that could point that direction?
- Are you on any meds that this could be a side effect of?
- Is your sleep seemingly deep or is it shallow and restless with frequent wakings? (Quantity won't help if quality is bad.)
- Any reason to think you could have a problem with limb movements?
Hopefully there will be a way you can get a different machine. Before you know which way to go you'll need to know whether your CPAP treatment is problematic. If you don't have some resolution in a few weeks, message me. I have an older Respironics M Series Pro I could send you. The data card is the old style but I'm sure someone here would let you send them your card to read it, however, if you don't have apneas, I'm not sure the data will mean much. Unfortunately I won't be where the machine is for a few weeks. Good luck with things. Maybe someone can direct you to threads about how to test your machine's output might be a good place to start.

Sorry I missed this post.
I am taking T3 only for thyroid, this country doesn't have a test for it when taken alone. I used to take 25% more but my temps at the dr are usually 98.5 which I figure is pretty normal for mid-afternoon. My dr tested B12 and told me to supplement

I forgot all about it. Does it really help? I'll start tomorrow. Remember the D too!
Thanks!

The B12? You'll know it's working if you go on it for a while and then stop... you'll know it's working if you miss it! The 'on' effect is not dramatic, but if you quit, you won't feel as good off as you did on.

Wow I already forgot it! I'll have to put it next to the coffee, which I never forget.
