You want a proper diagnosis and why o2 is better than cpap or bipap, asking what is wrong with my lungs...wouldn't it be better to be titrated on cpap/bipap and see if that could keep my o2 above 90% while alseep. then use O2 added as needed if it fell short.
treating apnea with o2 without titrating to prove it's needed is just a dumb idea

There wasn't a detailed report for my recent overnight oximetry test. Just that I was under 88% for 93 minutes and under 90% for about 5 hours.

This it what is happening. At my request they are going to give me oxygen until I have a titration study on Feb 9th. I may get a Bipap or ASV depending on those results. I have my follow up on titration on Feb 16th.

My respiratory therapist at VA also spoke with my provider at today's appointment and told her he is have me see a pulmonologist as well to check things on that front.

So to me anyways I am more then happy. I get oxygen now so I don't keep killing my body and brain, we will see if titration study makes it so I can stop oxygen and have workup for any issues that may be causing this.

they are taking it seriously and ticking all the boxes. O2 can treat the apnea sort term I had it in hospital when i was without my machine. they got sick of the alarm going off when I fell asleep

Let's try to get you some relief right now and see if adding the O2 helps with your symptoms and still proceed with further evaluation for whatever is causing the issue and maybe consider a different machine or pressures to help.

Obviously addressing the cause is a priority but in the meantime getting you some relief right now is important because finding the cause isn't likely going to be all that easy and will take time.

Everyone knows the O2 is just a bandaid right now but sometimes bandaids are needed while other work is being done to figure out how to best stop the bleeding.

After my provider came back in room she told me they had to do titration study first and that I might need a Bipap or ASV. I told her I would prefer oxygen in the meantime because I was really struggling and gave embarrassing story of something stupid I did . She left room and got permission from head Dr. I am very pleased and glad they didn't agree with the no oxygen no follow up that Dr. Death had decided lol

I love hearing good news.

I will also keep everyone posted in this thread as things progress. I've seen a couple on here with similar issues as mine with no conclusion.

Years ago, I was coming down from a spinal block, the nurses kept yelling out to me to breath, I kept setting off the alarms.

This was 10 years before I was Diagnosed with sleep apnea, even then I had the symptoms, just didn't know about it back then, could have warded off a lot of problems, if I had. Jim

I don't know the litres a minute they used and I was probably sitting at 101% can you go 150%? The o2 keeps the levels higher and a reserve to draw on. it also fills the sinuses for a quick hit when you breathe again. It kept my o2 levels ok enough that I didn't trigger alarms and they could get back to important stuff, like reading magazines.

So last night was first night on oxygen. My lungs felt worse maybe for first 15 min when I woke up with more coughing then normal. Have to see if I feel more awake today or not.

Anyways here is SP02 report from last night.

Lowest I got was 88% and only spent 0.5% of time under 90% with a basal of 94.2%.

ETA: no headache this morning either!

That looks a good chart, you have to be happy with that.

This was the one symptom that you have that I thought you might see immediate results with IF your headaches are low O2 related.

It's been a few hours now so I can somewhat gauge how it's working. I'm still really sleepy tired and almost seems like I have more shortness of breath. Mentally I'm feel slightly better which is good as well. Hopefully things just get better over next few days.

Well, you didn't mention how many hours you slept and what SH showed as far as events, leak line, pressure line?
