"Cellular" and "WiFi" are two completely different things.

"wifi" would mean putting your wifi passphrase into the CPAP, and connecting it to the internet... I sure as hell wouldn't want MY cpap "online" where all the hackers out there might figure out how to get into it and screw with the settings all night while I was trying to sleep.

There's no such thing as "cellular wi-fi".

There ARE, however, phone/carrier combinations that can use wi-fi and NOT the local cell signal, if any, to make phone calls.

With respect to the hackability of my CPAP, I think I've read that equipment could be hacked via cellular comms, bluetooth, or TCP/IP.

I am new to the forum, to CPAP (for about six weeks now) and just started using sleepyhead this week. I noticed that my Resmed airsense 10 doesn't transmit session information to Myair for compliance records while the SD card is in place, not until I remove it from the slot in the machine. Will it transmit information to Myair with a Flashair in place or must it be removed first?

It will transit with the Flashair card in place. I have Flalshair cards in both of our machines and they transimt data to My Air every day. They may not transmit at the same time every day, but they do transmit daily.

This is not correct.

The transmission and the SD card are completely separate.

You're just not waiting long enough.

For me, it takes about an hour to transmit after it has been turned off.

Thank you. Is it tricky to get Flashair to get data into sleepyhead? Looking at some of the previous posts, it almost looks like you have to be an IT network specialist to get it to work - do I understand correctly that another utility is needed to facilitate the transfer?

I found it a little finicky.

And yes, I use another utility to facilitate the transfer. Sleepmaster - http://www.sleepmaster.org

For most users, data is transmitted via a cellular modem to AirView (available to health care providers). If you have poor cell reception, you use the SD card. My guess is that confusion arises when the manual talks about "wireless networks" (meaning cell networks).

IIRC, ResMed does not have bluetooth (although the Dreamstation does -- and, even then, it only updates your phone app).

Not to add or distract, but in places like my house and other places with strong WiFi my MotoX4 does uses WiFi to make and receive calls and texts. I use Google Fi as my provider!

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that sometimes things we think are not usual are still possible.

For someone who's not particularly knowledgeable or confident about networks and config files, etc. would it be easier to set up wireless transfer of data from my Resmed Airsense auto 10 to Sleepyhead with a Flashair card using Sleepmaster or Flashpap? I wouldn't want to do anything that might mess up my router or computer. Thank you.

The easy way would be to remove the SD card and put it into your computer reader, like most people do. Jim
