Part of the problem is that you are not looking for information, you are asking for information you could get yourself with just a little bit of looking.

Have to agree with this. One time-honored way to get rid of a troll (or someone who effectively is a troll) is to ignore them. Doesn't always work, but sometimes does. Having a note in your signature that their information isn't to be taken as fact is fine, but just ignore their postings and they will often lose interest and go somewhere where they can cause more controversy.

From long experience on internet forums. Engaging with a troll just feeds their need for attention and makes them more persistent *smile*.
