Actually our (and we are volunteers) JOB is to help new patients like you that do not have a clue. Most of us have been at this for many years and have been through the newby bit and have been so thankful that we had help along the way from forum members with more experience than us. Its what this forum is all about ... paying it forward!!
Cheers and good luck on your journey of learning .
Nan

She told me coat my nose with k-y jelly, and put the humidity on automatic. I wondered about it but decided to try it. Again a good reason for insurance so you can see these people and get the problem solved. Wala it works. Plz dont challange me. No joke! Water soluable and it does the job. How nice I have an answer.
K Y will work as will vaseline but both are too slippery for me, I prefer Lansinoh which is tackier and helps to seal leaks. Some of the old school folks will say vaseline will ruin the mask by eating it, I have not found that to be true. But before you try anything new like that make sure you have a spare mask and try new things with the old mask just to be sure you don't mess something up.

I think the reason the old school RT's would say not to use vaseline has something to due with breathing it in. If you remember when we were young mom would put Vick's VapoRub inside our nostrils and that has petroleum jelly in it.

I have started working part time when I was 17 years old and continued to work part time while going to school until I joined the military for twenty years. After retiring from the military, I worked 30 years in aerospace. I don't need to get a job. I done my part.
