I bet
Liam doesn't mind the comments from the other Guest, or else he would not have even bothered to ask for input.
You have to admire
Liam for having the sensitivity and guts to ask. He didn't have to do this. He could have gone on as usual or in any which way he chose. Several people here have described this forum as a community. If more people in our regular hometown communities sought feedback for their role in their community, the world might be a better place.
A community is at its best when its people learn from one another, regardless of who or how they are. So
Liam, if you're listening, you are a welcome addition to our forum community.

Thanks, second guest. I suppose it would have been better if I'd taken your tack and not responded.
The thing is, you're right in a sense. I really DON'T mind the disapproving opinion. What I mind is the tone of the posts which seems aimed largely just at fanning flames and asserting some superiority-of-position, rather than simply saying "Y'know what? I'd rather you didn't do it. I feel like it's becoming too overwhelming, to the point that any good information is drowned out".
So I feel somewhat shamed by your comment, I shouldn't have lashed back. You're quite right, his opinion and everyone elses is EXACTLY why I started this thread, and I apologize for lashing.
Liam, operating on two nights of no sleep and a pretty good sized depression to boot, and probably reacting poorly.

Liam,
I think this "guest" is obviously jealous. Its either that or he/she is just a miserable person who doesn't appreciate your kind of humor.
Ignore this person, it isn't worth wasting your words on.

Liam,
I'm that second Guest again.
You needn't feel shamed. Even so, just because we are participants in a community doesn't mean we can't feel emotion about what or how something is said. It's our feelings which remind us we are human, that we are alive. There are all kinds of people in our communities.....good, bad. It pains us to face the evil/bad ones, but we must. What do they say?....we must know our enemy? There's absolutely nothing wrong with feeling bad about someone's comments. It's the "unfeeling" ones I truly worry about.

Liam, really starting to wonder how many neurons you actually have firing.
No insults??? Hmmm, sounds like one to me. I actually have quite a few, neurons that is.
Oh yeh, then there's this one
you tiny brained wiper of other people's bottoms

Liam,
Second Guest again.
Perhaps I should give my name.....I don't want to be confused with this other Guest.
We must be fueling this person, stoking the fire.
Ignor this "guest" and maybe he/she will go away.

Liam,
It's easy to see how someone like this evil forum stalker might add to your depression,
Liam. Me, this "feeling" person is getting mighty pissed at this fellow too. I hope you're getting LOTS of rest and not see any of this. I for one am signing off.

Liam,
While I haven't been around long, I started out by traversing the threads for a day or so, picking up on your early posts. What prompted me to join the forum (after almost 2 yrs on the
hose with no support) was the friendly atmosphere AND THE HUMOR--PRIMARILY YOURS!
This was a noble experiment that proved we want you to KEEP IT UP
My rule of thumb is to not bother reading posts that waste my time with nonsensical issues--HUMOR IS NECESSARY--and it is my choice to read those posts!

I know that I am late on getting to this but here we go. Please do not stop there are times that after reading the one liners I have to go try to explain to my wife how funny it is. If ever anyone wants you to stop this forum will lot less interesting. I have always had my questions answered and in an knowledgable and caring manner and I appriciate that, and if some humor is involved and I get a smile than it is that much better. And if someone does not like it why should we all suffer so a few can be happy.

Liam,
Don't let the negative comments get you down! They appear to be coming from one "guest" that appears to not like you and takes everything you say personally. That is sad. Think what a very sad life they must lead. Perhaps we should all pray that they can find a happier place to be.
I, for one, am VERY happy here in this wonderful hosehead community. You people have made me feel like part of a big family. I have received so much information from all of you. I really don't think I would be using my bilevel were it not for you folks and the great support people at cpap.com.
As for the humor, A day without Liam is like a day without sunshine. I always look to see if you are on when I sign in and am disappointed when you are not.
You have to stay and keep us laughing, it is so much better than crying!

Gosh, I couldn't say it any better than Gilda.
So right. So, so right.
We need you,
Liam.

Liam,
As the Reader's Digest has been saying for years, "Laughter is the best medicine". And your humor, which has us laughing at ourselves, is the best kind of all. Keep it coming.

I agree with 53now...
Humor is fine and has a place on the forum. So too does lots of valuable information that helps folk with their journey through
CPAP. I have received tremendous help from this board both from the humour and from the information. Struggling with OSA is no walk in the park for anyone and this forum is a help to all of us.
What I'm not happy with is comments that are in any way insensitive or discriminatory of any person or group. It's fine to wave the flag and cite 'freedom of speech,' but, how does bashing any person or group foster a sense of community or serve a helpful purpose regarding this forum?
Bashing a person or group and then excusing the bashing as "it was just a joke" just does not fly. The whole 'how do you tell the difference between a straight or gay
CPAP' was way off-colour and offended people. Further, it might have offended, and scared off, someone who is new to
CPAP and looked to this forum for help.
I realize that my comments might put some off and start a flurry of argueing. If so, well, that's I price I'll pay. You asked for honesty and this is what I am giving you. The humour is fine, the offensive comments from anyone are not.
