Everyone who has another perspective isn't discounting yours. There's room for more than one equally valid experience or perspective.

Hi Steve, I barely slept during my sleep study. I slept for about 90 minutes and did not go into REM sleep, but they were still able to make a diagnosis of sleep apnea and titrate me. I have an S9 Autoset so I am able to see what my AHI is nightly, as well as leak rate, etc.. Their titration was surprisingly accurate and has remained the same over the last 7 years. Sleep apnea is probably the primary thing waking you constantly right now, so you will likely sleep better and more deeply once you are treated. You still may not sleep "well", though, if you have trouble sleeping with a mask strapped to your face. Both my husband and I use CPAP and he has adapted much better than me. He has uninterrupted sleep most nights, whereas I wake after 3 or 4 hours and then toss and turn the rest of the night. There are many people with insomnia who don't have sleep apnea, so your mileage may vary with treatment. I do believe, though, that you will reach that deeper REM sleep once you are treated. Good luck and I hope they get you straightened out soon. Untreated sleep apnea is exhausting.

==========
many things can awake you
look at the data
many people fix the obstructive apnea then find there are other problems that need fixing too
I covered that in my post. I said that many people who don't have sleep apnea have insomnia that disrupts sleep and his mileage may vary with treatment. Insomnia includes sleeplessness, wakefulness, restlessness and an inability to sleep. Clearly sleep apnea isn't the only cause of disrupted sleep and treatment can only take you so far.
