How many of you have taken a drink of water and fallen
asleep before you have a chance to swallow it!

I haven't been quite that bad, but I do tend to fall asleep while I watch tv in bed. I use a full face mask, and my nose will tickle if I don't fall asleep quickly. So, I can't wear my mask while watching tv. Too annoying. What I did was set a kitchen timer for an hour, out of reach. If I fall asleep, the timer wakes me up, and I get ready for bed. If I go to bed correctly, I just turn off the timer before I go to bed. I have never fallen asleep in the middle of getting ready.

Now, I have managed to take my mask off to make an adjustment for leaks, and I have fallen asleep before getting it back on again. Fortunately, that doesn't happen that often.

I am sorry that many people are not friendly to newcomers they disagree with. Personally, I think your idea is overly complicated. A simple timer, placed out of reach, is enough. I do think it would also help if you join the group, read, and get a feel for the group before posting something that you hope to get feedback on. I realize you said you weren't trying to sell the idea, just get it out there. But we are used to people posting ads, trying to sell stuff, or trying to get us to do their homework. It tends to get old, and people get grumpy.

I am one of those who fall asleep watching tv and forget the masks, one reason is Im thinking i might need to go potty in a minute, But I'm asleep. Or being a smoker (yes I know it's bad, plz no letcher ) I sometimes think I will be having 1 before sleep I only smoke sitting up, but I fall asleep watching tv and never smoking,,forget the mask, anyways many reasons

Then in the morning usually Im up at 2 to 4 am that's all the sleep I get, frustrating

Yes trying to break the habit of relaxing without mask ps I take a sleeping pill due to fibro because I just dont sleep much.
I also have surgury on my neck and put in a plate which I blame some of the issues on,, Hard for me to breathe laying down every since then, so dont lay down much

anyways point is I have the same problem,, I doze off without mask. I get mad at myself

Wow, once again another thread has devolved.

When we are experiencing deficits we try to find ways to compensate. Maybe your idea would work for you. At my worst I would not have even been able to manage the settings or remember what to turn on or off when. I fully relate to your instantaneous sleep. After falling asleep without masking up, I tried disciplining myself to sit on the edge of the bed to put my mask on. But can't tell you how many times I woke hours later to find myself still sitting upright on the edge of the bed. So I had to move to a standing only rule for masking up. Gotta do what we gotta do. I don't know your situation or what's going on with your sleep, but you do need to do whatever it takes to be sure you consistently use the treatment so you can regain some normalcy in your sleep patterns. The instant sleep you describe is not ordinary. If things don't improve with consistent treatment, please do follow up with your doctor for further investigation. BTW, a med I was on once (Mirapex) caused me to have sleep attacks. Just mentioning that in case you are on any meds that could contribute to your problem.

Sorry to see you run afoul of some folks here. To be honest, your idea sounds like a plan born of a desperate mind stuck on overthinking. Reminds me of how I used to think during some bad periods. I do hope you can get some well treated sleep.

Even standing doesn't work all the time. I was in Viet Nam on guard duty I fell asleep while guarding the P.X. standing up! Fell on my rifle a M-14A2, I had converted to A2, fell on the ejector slide almost broke a rib. A victim of working weeks of 20 hour days... Jim

Yikes! You win. My falling-asleep-standing-up story consists only of me standing there singing in church, then having to catch myself when my knees buckled.

Lucky the rifle was slung on my shoulder and no round in the chamber, if I had been holding it, things could have gotten noisy. Hitting the ground did wake me up. Jim

Normally we didn't put in those hours, but we would work 12 hours at our job, then take turns pouring concrete for 6 hours at night. Nights were the only time we could get a mixer. They made us move out of tents into buildings, the catch we had to build 12 @ 20 X 50 foot buildings, I'll bet the slabs are still there, we poured them thick... Like I said Good People, Good Times! Glad I don't have the people in the country now, watching my back! Fine people, 90% drafted kids, not a whiner in the bunch, just doing the job.

Yes, it does.

My last post was #1066. This will be #1067... in the same thread.

As I told Grandpapa Patrick in another post, he was the recipient of forum bullies who enjoy demeaning any newcomer whose post they don't like. It is sickening and disgusting but unfortunately, since this is an unmoderated forum, things will not change.

Lucy, If you are going to continue your silly trolling, you might want to learn the terminology. A thread and a post are two different things.

You might get most of what you need out of a driver fatigue alarm. Runs about $50 and sounds an alarm if you nod off. You'll have to put it on when you sit down, and remove it when you turn on your CPAP. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J8LAEHQ/re ... yzbBMY56GV

Thanks for the link, rcobourn. I have "narcoleptic" sleep attacks (long story) and it sounds like this product might be useful. I drank some coffee to stay awake and still fell asleep while watching a video. All I could do was laugh at the irony.

But not posting over and over in the same thread, if you post between on something else then it adds the next time. Post Counts are a poor idea, just a game, for the kids. Jim

Also post count is updated in your profile as it happens, all your posts show it as
# 1067. I tried to find your # 1066 it's no longer is in this thread everything is marked # 1067. Don't ask me why I waste my time, just curious I guess..

Might need a alarm, to put the alarm on. Wouldn't putting your mask on, solve the alarm problem! Jim
