Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask
Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask
Topic says it all. this is an urgent request for ideas and why to and why not to get the next mask.
I babied my last two Breeze's knowing which part breaks each and every time. I begged the manufacturers (several since it was sold multiple times, which is insane) to fix the obvious flaw, but since manufacturers aren't listening to customers who are also patients, of COURSE it was discontinued!
So, I need a new mask - I don't have a backup since the Breeze was the only one that WAS the backup for the backup...
I prefer one that goes back over my head and stays out of the way of my incessant tossing and turning for other medical reasons.
I use an APAP that is older but no others have worked before or since - Resmed S8 - no software - starting pressure 6.
Thank you in advance.

Choices for a mask that attaches the hose on top are pretty slim.
The TapPap which uses a mouth guard to hold the nasal pillows in place.

The DreamWear Gel pillows

and there is the DreamWear with cushion

Not one of those are remotely like the Breeze
Re: Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask
I am a former Breeze devotee, but migrated away when I knew it was on its way out. After that I used the CL2 for a long while. But let me tell you, I have never liked any mask as much as the TapPap. When I first experienced being headgear free, I thought I must have died and gone to heaven. The mouthpiece took a bit to adjust to, but oh the freedom! Unfortunately it won't work for a person with upper dental work that could be pulled loose. And I'd advise reading the tips on here before the boil and bite process. It will be interesting to read what masks other Breeze users transitioned to.Morraine wrote:Not one of those are remotely like the Breeze

Never said they were like the Breeze...just that they had the hose going to the top.Morraine wrote:Not one of those are remotely like the Breeze
There's nothing out there now that I know of that is like the Breeze.
I do a lot of tossing and turning...a lot because I can't stay in one position very long at all.
I am currently trialing the DreamWear Gel Pillows...it's a nice little mask and is fairly stable with all my tossing and turning once I got the smaller frame (the package comes with a medium frame).
I used the Tap Pap for about a year until the ResMed AirFit P10 pillows were released.
and the lure of minimal headgear and nothing in my mouth couldn't be passed up.
I also have used the DreamWear cushion and it's a nice little mask too.
No, they aren't like the Breeze but it's as close as I can think of with the choices out there and the hose being routed over the the head.
I see some online sources are showing some available at least to put in the cart.

This site had some parts listed.

So some stock is out there....rob a bank and buy up everything you can find.
Or accept the inevitable and start trying the new masks. Many of the masks have free return insurance at cpap.com...check the packaging to be sure and with the Respironics masks..be sure to call if you are ordering from cpap.com because if you call the price ends up being about $20.
For nasal pillow masks...lots of new stuff out there.

I can't use the tap pap, like many others, because I grind my teeth far too much. I've done research on that one and broken teeth can't be ignored...

Cpap.com was a total disaster the last time I had to deal with them, so they are out.
I will check the others but I can't pay $200 for a Breeze when I know its true cost - sad that Puritan Bennett sold the darn thing instead of fixing its one big flaw.
Day 2 without an APAP, not fun.

SleepyEyes21 has set his/her profile so that the log in status is hidden. Doesn't show last log in date...similar to mine. I have mine set that way.Lucyhere wrote:SleepyEyes 21 hasn't logged in in six months or more. Check for yourself.
She/he could have logged on this morning and it won't show up...that's why it has a blank for "last logged on".
It's a setting available in the profile page.

Re: Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask
I really love the Airfit P10 -- i will agree that out of the box it's a bit bad at staying in place after the band streches. However I ordered some of the below items and one of those on the back band really keeps things in place. It's so much lighter and more comfortable than the others I have tried.Morraine wrote: but since then it seems that the masks have become worse, not better since then... but these new masks seem to be one piece and horrid at staying put.

Re: Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask
The band on the Airfit P10 will shrink significantly closer to original size after you wash it (presumably with soapy water like with Dawn dish soap, I've never washed it in plain water).
Re: Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask
Thank for your input. Still doing research - catch 22, exhaustion, headache, nausea and disorientation for many hours after any amount of sleep is slowing things down significantly.jamor wrote:I really love the Airfit P10 -- i will agree that out of the box it's a bit bad at staying in place after the band streches. I am trying to figure out a mask with large, separate nasal pillows, which works best not to be dislodged during constant tossing and turning when in as much pain as many of us are when we sleep.
I am mystified how an industry that is responsible for a lifesaving/life-ending event such as being treated for apneas central, obstructive and mixed, can continue not to include patients in creating and improving masks and machines.
Re: Just Found Out Breeze Was Discontinued - Need A Similar Mask
Anyone have any idea where to find any mask that has separate nasal pillows now?
