Kathy, that's the second terrific note you've written in a week! Maybe the best you've ever done... now all we have to do is figure out how to implant some of that into the psyches of people like the other guy who just posted here! But good for you for keeping your mind so open and taking a good look at where you are and where you're going - hard to do at any age!

Both political sides could benefit from looking outside their own limited world view and respecting that some of the views of others just might have merit, and not be born out of some sort of mental deficit, as the obnoxious term libtard implies. The old saying comes to mind, "There's no fool like an old fool". I can't help getting old but I can help being an old fool if I can be open to never stop learning and growing.
Honestly, this is one of the best posts I have read in a long time online. Certainly the best in this forum. You are completely right about the polarization in society right now, especially in the US. Whether you are on the right or left and you are spouting extreme BS, you are part of the problem and being exactly what you hate on the other side...

I guess what I try to keep in mind to keep all this in perspective is that getting old is the "second childhood" as they say in my home country. Many of the people posting in this thread are definitely entering their second childhood.

Can't argue you with you there. The truth, reality and logic of it cannot be denied. And therein lies the difference between someone like me and someone like him. I'm not overly impressed with myself, my opinions and such as to never consider another viewpoint.

I still hate the word "libtard" though and will never implement it as part of my regular vocabulary!

libtards dont like the word libtard because it accurately describes them

those of us who reject the libtard political correctness crap will keep using libtard
because it is the perfect word to describe all y'all so well with just one adjective
Please do not assume you speak for others. I am totally against liberal PC crap, but I do not call them names, and certainly not one that is based on another insult that shouldn't be used. I have found that people who use personal insults in their arguments, do so because they don't have a valid argument. If you believe you are correct, stick to the actual points and argue your case. Insults and boasting do NOT help you win arguments. They actually discourage people from trusting anything you say.

Kathy, as others have said, probably one of the BEST posts I've ever read. Something ALL of us, both on this forum and in the world in general, should strive for. So well said. Thank you.

Yeah. That pretty much sums it up, doesn't it? It's times like this that I am convinced there is no hope for humanity. People like you, and many others here, give me hope. But there are a lot of people that make me feel completely hopeless.

If you believe this, then it is easy to believe that it is OK, even desirable, to mow them down with semiautomatic rifles. <<Shudder>>

I wonder if those who call people like me pure evil and someone that hates the truth only listen to one source. Which, as of yesterday, I learned is dropping their "Fair and Balanced" tag line. Only seems fitting, as most of what they spew is pure garbage. It's pretty sad when The National Enquirer is getting more access to our "President" than actual news organizations.

sorry but the only proper strategy is to stand up to bullies trolls and libtards

their strategy is to shut up the opposition so they can control everything
playing nice is a losing strategy even if you wish it would work and would prefer it
You're a moron. No nice way to say it.

I'm wondering if you read everything you quoted...including zoocrewphoto's part about personal insults. You people are so worked up about xxyzx that you stoop to his level.

Wow. I've not read the whole thread but from what little I have browsed through, it sure did get bent.

That up-to-no-good Putin must be at it again.

Seriously though. Until people wake up and realize that the political party they support does NOT support them (and I mean both of them), the issues will remain unsolved and played as a game of us against them until the country ends up like Syria or Venzuela or Ukraine or etc.

Neither the GOP nor DEM give a fricken krap about you or me ... figure it out or face the consequences (fast approaching)!

Every time there is a violent attack on politicians, I am reminded that
some people still cling to the ILLUSION that they represent us,
(((and that a few are getting painfully wise to the truth.)))
