In one word, the treatment for simple OSA is......AIR
Air that goes into your lungs and has the potential to interfere with gas exchange. High school graduates don't diagnose anything, Drs do. Cpap titrations are diagnostic studies that evaluate the bodies response to different pressures. Technologists and technicians know how to adjust these pressures in response to apnic events, reparatory rate, tidal volume, sleep architecture, CO2 retention, cardiac response, blood oxygen, and more.
Yea lots of people took care of themself with autpaps and are happy because they feel better.Auto paps are very limited on what they can see and interperate. Feeling better compared to no treatment dos'nt prove your getting optimal treatment, but to each his/her own. And lots of people have been screwed and had to take over because they had no insurance or couldn't get their Dr to address their problems or couldn't get another one.And thats a terrible, terrible thing, but they do what they can.
Doing all that yourself with out a Dr knowing how it affects your system in all is irresponsible . Writing a rx for PAP without knowing how it will effect someone in whole is irresponsible .
Having a profession that requires these things be verified for safety reasons and doing all this is very irresponsible .
Period.
But its your life.
