Based on the data I have seen they are not.

I ended up going with 1 hour but will make it user configurable eventually.

What standards are you referring to?
SelfSeeker wrote: For averages, it may not be more accurate but the average calculated for the daily AHI instead of recalculate with all the hours is what I would expect to be done. It seems more right. (Could be way off base.)
I ended up going with Total events divided by hours. That way short nights can't skew the results.

Move events I assume? You have longer REM periods as the night progresses. Events normally get worse during REM.

Hi James,
Rumor has it that you're looking for collaborators/testers for your E.P.A. project. I've been looking for exactly that software and would love to contribute. I have a Remstar Auto_CFlex and Encore Pro 6.1.22. I'm good with words, started programming with the IBM1620 and gave it up (more or less) sometime after TurboPascal. I'm a psychologist (industrial/operations research/neurophysiology) and an intuitive backwoods chemist (I used to cook up my own Lithium {much better than sodium - much} Hydroxybutyrate in the kitchen before the Feddies criminalized body chemicals - now I use xyRem {after replacing the Na with some Li ':P'})
Razz}). Anyway - I'd be happy to help out in any way I can. Might even look at doing some stat stuff if it would be helpful.

Yes I can defiantly use your input and help. Download the software and give it a try. Let me know what you think.

I've been working on the software pretty steady for about three weeks. I'm probably going to take a bit of a break now as there are a bunch of things I need to get done that are not computer related. I'll be back at it before too long though as there is still lots of work to do. (Don't fear though I will still do 'tech support' and help people out if they have crash or install issues)

I think its at a point right now though where there are enough features to make it useful and hopefully not to many major bugs?

PS Ah Turbo Pascal, now that brings back memories!

James,

Thanks again for a wonderful product. Two issues:

1. Response to Questions. Sorry to be so late in responding, but I agree that C-Flex and humidifier settings should be averaged to reflect mid-night adjustments.

2. Tech Support!! I've been using the software (0.7.5) since November 20 and didn't use my machine on two nights, Dec. 1 and Dec. 5 (long stories!). Anyway, EPA shows data for Dec. 2, 3 and 4, but does not display the data for Dec. 6 and 7.

I have the date range (3rd row, menu bar) set to "All" and "Dec. 07, 2006" (the latest date I can set) and yet the data displayed only goes up through Dec. 4.

I've tried refreshing the data and refreshing the SQL server, closing out the program, rebooting, etc., with no difference in result.

Am I missing something? Thanks again!

Michael [/b]

Agreed. Latest build includes this way of doing the calculations.

Odd. I assume that it shows up in Encore Pro with no problem? If so can you email me your patient export file and I will look into it more closely?

I had a look at your patient file. There is no detailed data for Dec 6 & 7 only compliance data. This is why EPA does not show all the graphs for those dates. EPA does show graphs for pressure, leaks, time in apnea though for 6 & 7.

I should probably update EPA to get the hours data at least from the compliance rather than detailed data. This might be less confusing? I could also potentially "backfill" some of the other graphs with data if the detailed data is missing. I'll have to think about that some more.

I noticed for the firt time today that on the daily report it showed sleep time at twice the amount. I am on the Auto Bipap and minutes maybe are being double counted because of IPAP and EPAP times.

Opps, I fixed that Bipap issue on the hours chart sometime ago. Maybe I missed it on the daily report? I'll look into it.

I want to represent days that have missing data someway in EPA. This is so one can tell the difference between a zero value and a no data day. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way of doing that?

It would make a lot of sense to me to do a "day browser" or "session browser" so that you could click on one day and see the data for just that session, or if you did a range, those days would be highlighted in the browser.

So to answer your question, you could use different icons, pictures, or even font styles (whatever floats your boat) to differentiate between different "kinds" of days.

James, my vote is to coninue showing gaps for missing days. It's the clearest indication of what happened.

That works for line graphs but not for bar graphs. I need a visual indicator of some type when in Bar graph mode and there is missing data. Otherwise a value of zero (such as no apenas) and missing data looks the same.
