I am using a Remstar pro auto, I don't use the ramp button at all I think it starts me at 2 or 4 without that since my titration showed a need for a pressure of 7. My doctor says that right now I am worrying myself so badly for nothing and he will not check my card until I am calmer, because he thinks I am driving myself crazy with worrying about the whole OSa thing. I nearly answered back: "And who do you think worried me? When first diagnosed I asked if I could consider losing weight and breathing exercses and sleeping only on my side and you said that I must start right away on CPAP, and that every day I delayed I was doing potential damage!! Now I cooperated and rushed everything along, even though I had no serious symptoms, and you tell me I am worrying too much!" But I am polite so I thanked him for his opinions and am trying to hold myself back from buying a card reader and software from CPAP.com for $180.

arthuranxious - well at least you are compling with CPAP. I think that is what the Dr was tying to do. Tell you of the dangers of not doing it.

I exchanged a resmed for a respironics M auto. My DME said the HH was an even trade. Also, I am still in my rental period (12 months) so I think that was why they were able to do it.

So how'd it go last night, already!!??? Curious minds want to know. LOL

Melissa congrats on your new machine!

1. Did they give you the little Homecare card that tells you how to progam it from the LCD display?
2. If your pressure was 10cm before you should really set a range of 5cm to 11cm or 12cm. Keep the Min. down as low as you can but if you feel stuffy at 4.0cm, then be sure to increase Min. pressure to 5.0cm or even 6.0cm.

The machine should NOT increase pressure up from the 4.0cm over 10-minutes or any set period of time espeically if you are still awake, check how it was programmed.

Check the "mode" the machine is in, it should be in AFLE (other modes are APAP, CPAP and CFLE). If you come across a timer be sure to set it to 00:00 (or leave it at 00:00 if already set). I still don't belive that machine has a settling ramp enabled for autopap modes but I might have to buy one to confirm it.

I'm betting it does.

I don't have an M auto either. My belief that it does indeed have a true separate ramp feature that can be used in any mode including APAP and AFLE is based on what I've read on the board by people who do have the M Auto.

The part about "Ramp starting pressure" doesn't say "not available in auto-CPAP therapy"...but stranger things are said/not said in manuals.

I haven't set up my M Auto yet, so I looked up Autoramp Time in the manual. Yes you can set and use the ramp when in auto mode if your Auto minimum pressure is set above 4. Those who start auto with 4-20 cm H2O will not be able to use the ramp.

Thanks guys for your interest. I think I slept well, only remembering waking up once and near alarm time anyway. Sometimes I do that. The only problem is that I had huge rainout last night and I had not been having that with my escape. I used to set my escape to 3 and this one I had set on 2 last night, I'm not sure if I can compare the two. Not cold out last night. Wondering if I should increase it to 3 tonight, but tonight will be colder. I left the pressure range as is 4-20, but am considering changing it. I've got this fear that I'll "get in trouble" and the DME police will come and take away my new found prized possession. I know, bizarre and you are all telling me its my therapy I can do what I want, but still....LOL. Amazingly I did not feel like I was suffocating last night on 4, but probably b/c I was using my escape with it ramping @ 4 for the past 2 months, so probablyused to that setting. I still can't believe that I have this machine, its like a dream and I want to tell you all again, that have been persistent, kind, teaching, motivating towards me, I could never of got it without you!! I hope to get the other accessories soon...card reader, software, etc. I have some #'s I need a little help with, whether they are ok or what they mean:

AHI--1.5 ( pretty sure this is good)
System Leak--20.3
90% pressure--7.0 cm

One more thing I didn't wake up with a headache, but 5 minutes after being up I started with a little one, took some ibuprofen, went away and about 1:30 this afternoon it came back with a vengence--migraine, just took Fiorecet and more ibuprofen. Might be hormonal , but could it be related to this machine?

P.S. This really seems like the only data I can retrieve from the LCD and its from the provider menu, does that seem correct?

Thanks Esther, but can you tell me how you came to that conclusion. Now that I've got this machine, I have to understand it. I know the AHI is good, but does the "7" mean that's what pressure I spent most of the night @?

90% at 7 means that you were at 7 or less for 90% of the night. For only 10% of the night you were above 7.
