I have a Resmed Swift, as well as a Resmed Activa as well as a Breeze as well as a Profile Lite Gel as well as a Resmed Ultra Mirage and I have to say that I find them all to be in about the same noise range! I can hear myself inhale and exhale in all of them. Perhaps the Swift and the Breeze ARE the noisiest, especially if the exhale port is positioned where the air hits your pillow or sheets, etc, however it isn't an extreme increase in noise. It certainly doesn't cause me to lie awake at night any more than any other device strapped to my face shoving air up my nose whether I was inhaling or exhaling would!

I think the Swift is much more comfortable than the Breeze (the only other nasal pillow mask that I've used) and more importantly more durable! In the time I've owned and used the Swift, I had already replaced the curved plastic piece that fits between the plenum and the head gear, and replaced the plenum itself.

I realize that the fit and feel of a mask is a personal thing, but I really don't have a problem with the Swift. I wear it (on average) 4 days a week and the Activa 3 days a week. Why, you ask? To try and avoid recumbenent (sp) congestion as I have to use Afrin when I use the Activa (or any other Nasal Mask) but I don't need Afrin with the nasal pillow system

Of course all this is IMHO!

UKnow, I bought my Swift about 4=5 weeks ago, and I don't think it is noisy at all, in fact quieter than the Breeze. Now, I can see that it would be noisier than a nasal mask, but since I've never used one I have no means of comparison.

I tried putting a peice of plastic netting in the barrel of my Swift and it has made the noise more tolarable.

Seems the Swift is noisier at higher pressures, What pressure are you at?

I have the Swift and I cannot stand the exhale/inhale noise. I love the design of it and the smallness of it but I keep using my Activa because it is so quiet. I tried a piece of the clementine netting and it sounded the same to me. Maybe I will try some other kind of netting.

I am on ResMed Auto with pressure range of 6-13 I think or it could be 14 but I think its 13.

Your hearing must be better than mine. At 6cm I sometimes have to put my hand in front of the exhaust holes to see if my machine is on.
I think the C-flex on my REMstar Auto helps a lot to minimze the exhale noise.

I'm on 10cm - 14cm at the moment. (I know 10cm seems high for a starting pressure, but this was my 10% at 4cm - 20cm and staying at 4-20 or even 6-20 was giving me an AHI of 6-8. With a 10cm starting pressure
my AHI is down to 1.4- still experimenting though)

There is a distinct whoosh as the barrel chamber fills with air. The netting
has taken it down by about 30 - 40% I reckon. Still loud though. I need to try lower starting pressures again I think.
