I've been wondering about doing away with ALL facegear and headgear!

How about just (don't shoot me) swallowing a small tube and closing the nose with one of those padded clips?

Or drill an air hole somewhere and 'hook up' at night. ???

I've been practicing during the day and found that I was already doing it more and more each day. Thanks for the motivation!!

Melissa-

Glad its working for you!!!! I've been a mouth breather all of my life (I remember an evil auntie scolding me as we were riding on a city bus in Rochester for breathing through my mouth when I was just a lad). That is, until I begin xPAP treatment. Now, I find that I'm breathing through my nose (as G-d intended) ALL the time, and I'm feeling better as a result. As an RN, you'll understand the physioologic benefits of breathing the way that we're supposed to.

So, BRAVA Melissa!

Something I have never seen mentioned are dentures. I have a lower partial that I never wore at night until about 3 months ago. Wearing the partial "takes up space" where my tongue normally rests during sleep and in effect pushes my tongue up slightly. Without the partial my tongue falls lower more easily. Alone it doesn't solve my mouth opening completely but with my custom chin strap prevents mouth openings.
Following this line of reasoning an upper denture would take up space at the roof of the mouth and push the tongue lower & out of the ideal position. I don't have an upper denture so can't verify my theory.....so if you have dentures try wearing the lower but NOT the upper and see what happens.
