You mention insomnia and anxiety. Both were pretty bad for me as well as depression. Those were just the mental problems. It was the lack of proper cpap therapy and sleep deprivation that was causing it. AHI range from 2.5 to 5 was not working for me. When we got the AHI down to around 1 my mental health problems went away. It's amazing adequate therapy and restful sleep did for me. The lack for proper treatment and rest could very well be causing your mental health problems like it was for me.

Yes and thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten those nasty morning headaches since it has been 13 years since I have been on cpap and those headaches have been gone for all that time.

It sure has! I used to wake with a headache almost every morning. Since CPAP, no headaches. (After got my pressure set correctly). Also has helped nighttime stuffy nose. With the mask (nasal pillows) on, my nose and sinuses are clear all night. After I take it off, my nose is runny for a while. Could be because I usually have 2 or more cats on the bed.

Never had a problem with morning headaches, I just spent the night not being able breath air, as a child I had leg pain and headaches, treated with OTC, never had a migraine. Jim

So I tried my cpap again last night. I took 100mg to trazodone and 0.5mg of xanax and was able to get to sleep with it. I went to sleep maybe a bit after 10 and woke up about 3am and was awake for awhile. I took another 0.5mg of xanax and was able to go back to sleep until 9am or so but kept the mask on the whole time. I use the amara view mask. I still woke up with a pretty bad headache but not as bad as previous days.
I did get fitted for a sleep apnea appliance at the dentist yesterday too so I'm going to give that a try. I also see my neurologist on the 1st and ENT on the 5th so hopefully, they will have some ways to help.
Here's a link to last nights stats and graphs

I have not had a headache since CPAP (except once when I had a fever). Mostly they were afternoon headaches, but they're gone (and it's almost eighteen years)!

Hi Rob, I saw you mention this on my post too, where I was talking about my AHI being a 3. It's gone down now to an average of 2.3 but I still feel like poop. I notice I'm clenching sometimes at night still and wondering if this is the problem. How did you get your AHI down so low?? I gotta upload the Sleepyhead program, I just have so much going on at home, I don't think about it until I'm going to bed and it's too late then. I have chronic migraine and daily headaches. I've been using my CPAP consistently for 1.5 weeks now and have only seen small improvements. I also struggle with anxiety and depression, but I don't know who wouldn't with the amount of pain and fatigue I have.

What meds are you taking for your medical problems? If you are taking some depression meds those are notorious for messing with sleep quality and how we feel during the day.

Not nearly long enough to really expect much improvement but while "giving it time" you can look at other potential factors impacting how you feel.
Common list to look at.
1...hours of sleep
2...are those hours of sleep fairly solid or fragmented with multiple wake ups? If so, any idea why?
3...medication side effects
4...other health issues impact sleep quality
5...other health issues impact how we feel in general
Finally, make time to get the software and really look at the data to see if anything is standing out there just screaming "fix me and you will feel better". AHI of 0.0 doesn't guarantee anything but a nice math score...there's so much more to effective cpap therapy and feeling better than simply the AHI.

About 15 years ago, I was getting morning headaches. Diagnosis was sleep apnea. After using CPAP, headaches stopped. But now I am getting headaches again. My previous headaches were in the morning when I wakeup. My current headaches happen around 3:00 or 4:00 am. I get up, take cracker and 2x500mg ibuprofen tabs and go back to bed.

Let's take it over to your thread so we don't sidetrack this one.
