Thanks Pugsy!
I'm also one of those people who feels awful if I sleep without my machine. It is pure hell for me and I have a sharp, swift reminder of just how bad things were before.

Yeah...I got a real reminder of just how bad things were. Kinda made me realize how much cpap has helped and I didn't really notice because the improvements were so gradual and over such a long time.
I mainly mention the "hold over" thing to people who have lost a lot of weight and want to make sure that weight loss fixed the need for cpap.
I don't know how critical it really is but it is for some people and we don't want to risk them being one of them and going off cpap when maybe they shouldn't be despite the weight loss.
These people will have probably reduced their pressure down to next to nothing and not be having any apnea events show up on their software so they need final verification that the weight loss really did fix the OSA (which it can do for some people but it doesn't do it for all people) before finally putting the cpap machine into the closet.
If they go without it and get the rude reminder that you and I get...hey, they still need cpap. Should be a fairly easy decision there.
If they go without it and don't get any rude reminders then either the OSA is really mild or maybe it is gone and further proof with an in lab sleep study is needed and to eliminate any potential "hold over" effect...if it were me I would do without cpap for a few nights prior just to make sure. By that time I would be past any rude reminders anyway or I wouldn't be doing the sleep study.

I wouldn't need another Sleep Study because I got a machine that collected full data, got the software needed to figure out my own treatment. I can get a new sleep study every night, but it's totally not necessary, unless something changes. Jim
