Would someone decode what insiders refer to as "tl" and "dr", I'm still in learning mode at this old age.
Too Long, Didn't Read.
And, apparently, you didn't read my question which had to do with your quoted comment, not my earlier "too long" post.
This is an absolute classic.

Thanks for that clarification, James, glad to have provided coffee spewing fun for the in-group.

In a sense I did not "read" but I clearly did not understand PR's response. It could be interpreted three ways. PR had not read all the climber wrote, had not read what I wrote or was providing the answer I did not "read". I should have noted the tell in PR's caps.

If you can't see the humour in the exchange, where you interpreted the description of TL, DR as a statement directed at you, then I suggest you don't watch the Laurel and Hardy short Who's on First?

Wise advice. (also, had to watch it again, it's still as good as ever.)

Should let this die, but have seen others (Mark and others) get "the treatment" over time, with some to little justification, and felt obligated to speak up for the hiker who was largely on topic. But I, too, am wordy and prone to ramble so PR's post was secondarily applicable to me (fair enough and humor or barbs about that--no problem), though I saw PR as primarily, if not only, reacting to the climber.

"tl and dr"", without at least conventional help of a capitalized TL and TR, as in acronyms. Capitalization and spelling out of the words came later. Lot's of company frequenting the place would share the merit of some doubt but would be reluctant to ask.

Yeah, humor abounds:

The climber got his slam, but the OP writer and hiker: "tl and dr".

Zonker:
"the trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt."

Again, probably just an old fossil who isn't up on texting or group codes and hasn't given up on learning.
