UPDATE*
I had my first appointment yesterday! After asking me several questions, he took a look at my tonsils in shock. He was amazed how large they were. He said it's almost impossible for me not to have sleep apnea with those things along with my symptoms. He said he's going to expedite this whole process for me. I'm taking the home sleep test this upcoming week, then the office is going to personally schedule my surgery to get the fastest appointment possible. I'm very excited!

Same vote here. Since my sleep doc noted that my airway was smallish and my tongue largish, I think that if I had t/A in there now my sleep apnea would be worse.

In my first visit to my sleep doctor (pre-home sleep study) he told me I had a "big tongue and big tonsils". After my sleep study it was clear I had severe sleep apnea (over 70 AHI). I was immediately prescribed a CPAP machine and by AHI last night was .5 AHI...thats in just a little over a week of use as I'm recently diagnosed.

I go back for my first checkup in a couple of weeks and I will be asking him myself if removal of tonsils would do anything. I'd love to hear what your doctor says when you see him, so keep us posted.

I had mine out at six. Parents were concerned about my frequent infections, and my small stature.
Not sure if there was any result--Ear infections were less frequent, but I was/am still short.
Ear infection at 10 eventually reduced my hearing acuity in the right ear.
I still continued to have frequent "colds" until diagnosed with allergies at 43.
Between my hearing aid and my loratadine, I'm all good now.
My apnea is hereditary, maybe exacerbated by pre-orthodontic extractions.
Tonsils get too much blame.
