Well, you poor little snowflake. Just subscribe to the posts you like and unsubscribe when they become disagreeable to your sensitivities.

The other option is to get your therapy optimized and leave. It's a big beautiful world out there with lots of things to see and do.

YOU, Cow are the poor little snowflake... A decent person says she is unhappy with the bickering which disrupts otherwise useful threads, and YOU, Cow decide she needs to optimize her therapy. HOW ABOUT OPTIMIZING YOURS!

Mornin' Jeff ... this is where it started "veering" (as you already know). If you need further info, don't hesitate to contact me. Where have you been hiding lately? Miss your posts.

Thanks! Moving upstate out of NYC has kept me busy. Just got back from a funeral for my uncle in KY. And I'm fighting a few health issues. Just got diagnosed with moderate LVH after a recent echo, so looking into possibility of BP meds after a 24-hour-BP test starting tomorrow. But I gotta stop in here once in a while to try to keep up enough on things to help friends I work with to improve their sleep. Good to see so many still around here, even the incognito ones.

So how was this post at steering this thread further off-topic? I give myself at least a 7 out of 10 on this one.

Probably instead of being marked O.T.:, RANT: would have been a better intro warning. Jim

Using RANT: could be a useful post Category, I'd use it but I don't Rant or Whine. I do drink a small amount of Wine, Blackberry! Jim

I thought this is where it went OT since by definition Lurkers do NOT post...
desiderata wrote:I was going to start a post because I've wondered why there are so many lurkers, but then I realized that would be almost redundant.

Oh, well, at least I netted something more to hide. Gotta call that a win, eh?
So how could a lurker take a thread OT?
But in all honesty most threads in this forum will drift one way or another - others just get totally DE-Railed - very few stay OT - that is ON Topic.

You really need to try and stay on topic.

Staying on topic is for the young. Old people have lived long enough to know better than to try to remember what they were talking about.

There in lies the problem.

Esp hard with untreated OSA.

Multi-tasking does not help.

Hey "old" friend, hope those health issues resolve without major issues. I once had a diagnosis of LVH but a few years later the studies said it was normal. Go figure. I assumed treating my OSA helped, but you've been treating yours for a long time, so it's likely not the same issue. Just wanted to wish you well in all that's going on in your life.

Hope all goes well tomorrow. Never heard of a 24-hour BP test, but I've led a very sheltered life. Let us know how it goes.

I had one after my former PCP insisted on blood pressure meds which turned out to be white coat hypertension. Interestingly, with my current PCP, I have has just had one high reading which resolved after waiting 30 minutes.

LH, I wouldn't have known about it but after the former PCP insisted on the drugs, I just had the sense she was wrong and found out about the 24 hour BP monitor during my research. In retrospect, taking 1 to 2 weeks of readings at home might have worked just as well but this is how I found my great cardiologist as she was one of a few doctors in my plan that offered this service.

JNK, good luck with the test.

Thanks. Not looking forward to BP meds, since I've been known to do the vasovagal syncope thing in the past.

If I had listened to you back in the day, Kathy, I might have had a baseline echo to prove the LVH has improved from what it was.

Just beware the Rx of Propranolol ... some bad joo joo medicine will make your heart worse in long run. Sort of like Rx of insulin for Type II diabetics makes diabetes worse in the long run.

What many OSA patients have in common with endurance/marathon athletes is LVH. I would have thought that after 10+ years of OSA treatment, my LVH would have been reversed, but not so. Of course prior to my therapy I'm pretty sure I went for 25+ years with untreated OSA. So maybe I just need another 15+ years of good CPAP therapy?

I've been through a half dozen cardiologists and most all of them are myopic at best, and criminally negligent at worst. Hang in there, do your own research, ask your docs lots of questions, and never trust that they know exactly what they're doing. They are human just like all of us and some make more mistakes than others.

I'm no doctor, so take my words accordingly, I'm just trying to stay on topic here.

JNK,

When I thought I needed BP meds prior to my septoplasty which turned out to be anxiety about the surgery, I did very well on a low dose of Norvasc (sp?) at 2.5mg. Normally, I am very med sensitive.

Again, good luck.
