I like the Mirage Quattro as well. I make sure to put very little pressure on the forehead brace, however it is still useful to stabilize the mask against unwanted, leak-creating movement. The Simplus straps look nice, should spread the pressure over a wide area of the back of one's head.
Me too.....I've used the Quattro for 7 years. I've tried every new version as they came out and always went back to the basic Quattro

Manufacturers "try" to create styles that fit a greater range of faces, but many fail.
Sure would be nice if they offered us custom fitting. Although I hate to think what that would cost. In the long run it may prove to be less expensive since we wouldn't have to go through all the trial and error with several masks until we find the right one.
Rob,
I have long advocated the use of 3-D imaging of faces AND masks to help match faces to masks that best fit.
It should go across brands to do the best service; but it would certainly lower expenses--(((and profits.)))
Maybe where expense matters . . .

I have been a Simplus fan for awhile. Was working well for me for a long time. However, since switching to BIPAP and a much higher pressure, I now have trouble with it nightly. Maybe too high a pressure I'm thinking. At 17, however, my AHI is way, way better than it was, close to 5 most nights. Not sure the doctor will lower it. But I'm not getting a good night's sleep. And not able to wear the mask more than 4 hours a night. Too frustrating fussing with the mask. I just bought a new one and used it last night. Same story, constant popping sound and re-adjusting. Finally gave up at 3:30 a.m. I spend quite a lot of time during the night adjusting and re-adjusting to get rid of the leaks, the pops, the sometimes whistling sound. I bought a heated hose to help with dry mouth. The heated hose is heavier than the regular and tends to pull at the mask, causing some of the leaks. Since the heated hose has not helped with the dry mouth, I'm considering going back to the regular hose, just because it's lighter.
I can post the Sleepyhead data, if needed to see what's going on. Not sure how to get it on here though.

Another theory I have re: the difficulty I have with mask fit. I have a number of allergies and food sensitivities. I try hard to avoid gluten as I am sensitive to it(possibly celiac)but sometimes especially if I eat out, it is not always apparent - even if you inquire - if gluten is present or if the food has been cross contaminated in the kitchen. Anyway, the result is a slightly swollen face. This has got to impact mask fit. Perhaps this explains why sometimes the mask seems to fit ok then other times not so much. Anyone else experienced this? The facial swelling due to food sensitivities/allergies...

Plenty of info on this forum on how to do this

I used the simplus for several months with pressure of 20 - 25. I found the Amara View did a much better job of sealing due to my facial features. I have a very narrow bridge on my nose, and most masks that go over the nose do not seal unless I pull them tight which makes my nose sore. The Amara View fits under my nose and eliminates that problem.

Is there a mask that can handle the higher pressures better than most? Simplus is great but maybe not for the higher pressures.

My main mask is the InnoMed/RespCare Hybrid. But I am trying out the Amara View in hopes that may work as well.

Finding the right mask can certainly be a pain in the rear and maybe it doesn't have to be. 3D imaging for fitting existing masks on the market and manufacturing of custom masks. If current manufacturers wouldn't take this on it would be a way for a new business to gain market share. When you getting started?lol Sounds feasible in a quickly expanding market. Many people I know are being diagnosed with apnea.

Wow, I like the idea of 3D imaging for better mask fit. I can see that alone taking the difficulty out of cpap therapy. Would be amazing.

i've had the best luck so far with 2 full face masks:
the amara view and the airfit F20.
neither have a piece that goes up between your eyes nor a piece that rests on your forehead.
i go back and forth with those two masks.
i've tried quite a few others, but those two seem to work and seal the best for me.
