Hi all,
My apologies for the late reply. My husband was travelling all this time and now he is back we will follow all your advises and will post on how it goes.
Last night his snoring wasn't too bad (Pressure 12) but the whistling of the machine drove me away so again I slept in another room. I have tried a fan but the noise wasn't loud enough to cover it.
As mentioned I will try the whilte noise. I would also be interested which app your wife is using.
As you all see, trial and error has started again (sighhh) so I hope we will get this sorted also.

Thanks also for the earplug suggestions and glad to see I don't have to put coal in my ears.

Hi Tahera, I downloaded a white noise app called Relaxio, it seemed to work to a degree, but my partner was sometimes irritated by it, so not using at the moment but haven't ruled it out completely.
Some say that having the machine lower than the mattress or even on the floor reduces the noise, may be worth a try.

Now that he is back we will try the APAP mode as the snoring was still very intense I got no sleep last night.
How many days would you suggest to give it a try for? I will then make sure to post the results.

I am hoping that you just weren't in clinical setup mode when you tried. If you don't know how to get into the menu where the pressure can be changed then you likely were in the regular mode when you attempted to find auto trial mode.
How to get into clinical setup mode.

Since therapy hours and blower hours match then the lack of auto trial mode can't be blamed on your getting a machine used by someone else who used up the auto trial hours. You got a brand new machine.
Resetting...involves erasing all the previous therapy data which obviously you don't want to do right now as long as the DME might need compliance information for insurance requirements.
Past Respironics machines with auto trial mode available would allow 5 resets(erasing all therapy data) before the option became permanently unavailable. I am assuming the DreamStation is the same in that regard.

I tried this last night and no luck. Had to leave the bedroom around 2 am and couldn't fall asleep afterwards. So frustrating!

Which did you try? White noise, lowering machine or both?
Yes you should definitely be trying APAP mode, I would say a few days but I know you have limited trial days, see what Pugsy needs to make a judgement on his data.
How is his breathing now, is he finding exhaling easier? Do you need to use the Flex setting?

Actually since his apap days are limited with the machine I would evaluate daily so we can get an idea where he needs to be as quickly as possible. We don't have the luxury of unlimited days in apap mode with this machine.
I would suggest the minimum pressure be changed from the default settings to about 1 cm below what he is using now in fixed mode. Leave the maximum set at 20. Let's see just how badly the machine wants to kill the snores.

Hi there! We are trying to change the mode to Apap but the machine doesn't give us the option, even when being in the clinical set up. The therapy menu gives us: CPAP, EZ Start Off and the pressure, that's it.
Do you think it is for some reason disabled?

Is there anything else we could do? LIke put up the pressure more maybe?
In terms of white noise, I used earplugs and a large fan but I woke up by the severe vibration of my dh snoring.
We checked the Apnea for last night and it was 4.96.
Is this normal that we haven't fixed the issue yet, I am so frustrated!

it's not disabled, it doesn't exist, that's the difference in the pro and auto machines.
you can't disable anything in the clinical menu, there are no more menus.

So do you think our machine just doesn't have this option?

I have just played with the machine and I can see Ramp and Flex under setup. Not sure if this would make any difference.

I don't think you are in the clinical setup menu.
Did you do the secret button pushing thing?
Can you change the pressure? If you can change the pressure...change the mode and tell me all your choices.

The DreamStation Pro should have 30 days auto trial mode available unless it was used up by someone else...like if they got a used machine but I think we checked that already and therapy hours match machine run hours.

That's right. It was brand new. I am double checking and under therapy it just gives us CPAP and C Check, EZ Start: Off and the pressure. It looks like there are settings missing.
