I just looked at the F20 my wife is using. There are two flaps to move instead of one before you can get your machine to sense any air movement. The openings on the side of the elbow are big enough that you can not get the flaps to move by simply inhaling regularly. They might move if you could take a big enough breath. Without pressure, exhaled breath goes out the regular exit ports on the front of the mask and the four holes on the sides of the elbow. The mask design will probably not allow auto start to work with any machine.

To auto start with any cpap it has to know (feel) you are breathing. If the mask has leaks or the flaps don't close as Okie says you will not get it to start no matter what the pressure settings are. If you can't seal the flaps with your hands or some other way then pushing the button is the only way.

cover the AA valve with your finger, so that the machine senses the airflow.

Oh...you mean that area where if people would take the time to read stuff they might find the answers to questions and not have to repeatedly post the same questions here on the forum? Novel idea.
People don't take the time to read anymore. They want to be spoon fed all the answers and not do any work like reading much less searching for what to read.
Now we do sometimes get a question that hasn't been covered before but it's rare.
Most of the time it's been covered a gazillion times already. Hell...sometimes even in the very same thread they post in...that just irritates the crap out of me when the answer is right above their post.
