Lenneal Kriek dropped her bags and ran when she heard there was a second shooter Friday at the airport. ... Kriek’s luggage contained CPAP machines to treat her and her husband’s sleep apnea. Her wallet and purse stayed in her backpack.

Unless you're evacuating an airplane. Then all gets left behind.

I keep my CPAP under the seat in front of me. Dare any of the flight crew to try to stop me from taking it off the plane. Their eyes and face will be badly scratched, and I will get off with the CPAP bag.

I did see a guy on TV showing his laptop with a bullet hit on the corner. He credited the laptop with saving his life during the Ft. Lauderdale shooting.

If I am running from a shooter I don't give a damn about my CPAP. It's replaceable, I am not!

The CPAP stays with me at all times. The speed at which I could run would not be much difference with or without the CPAP bag. Zig-zag.

Federal regulations probit anyone from separating a diabetic from his/her supplies.
What happens if your diabetic Batman belt looks scary!

Some of the people had their stuff on the belts in the security area and had to leave everything. No wallets, no shoes, nothing!

One guy's Ipad took a bullet for him--sitting right there in his backpack.
Probably saved his life. Cpap in my backpack, its sacrifice may be just enough.

Exactly since carrying my machine in my bag would slow me down big time.

You can actually use your CPAP machine as a weapon to defend yourself .... and somebody with a CPAP on their person could have put a stop to the shooter sooner if close enough. Swining a 3 lb CPAP bag to the head with an arc radius of 2 ft can provide a blow similar to swinging a sledge hammer to somebody's head.
I saw the airport video where a lady tried to hide from the shooter behind a paper sign poster .... except it was the wrong side of the sign poster. Fortunately, her husband grabbed her arm and pulled her over to the other side of the paper sign poster.

I hope some of you people are never in a real emergency on an airplane with me. When the flight crew says "leave all bags behind" and evacuate, it is for a reason of safety of ALL the passengers on the plane. Everybody on that flight has "something" they think they can't leave behind. In an emergency, seconds matter, and can be the diff. between life and death. Your baggage is not more important than other passenger's life.

"Hope" is indeed exactly the primary strategy behind the herd mentality.
