Well as I am just on the cusp of falling asleep I get jerked awake by a snorting sound in my nose. I don't feel like I stopped breathing, I don't feel weird at all. Just that snorting wakes me up as it is in my head and therefor loud enough to break that tenuous edge of sleep I am entering. It will happen every time I hit that point right where I am falling asleep and it doesn't matter if I am sitting up in a chair or laying on my stomach or back or side. I am flat out exhausted right now. I wonder if it is due to my deviated septum or is it just my tongue blocking the airway and it makes me make that sound in my nose. I have a sinus infection so maybe this time it is happening worse due to swelling in my sinus area and throat? I am stumped as to what to do.

A small purchase of a recording pulse oximeter just to sleep with on your finger may help provide more information for yourself and your doctor.
As far as the anxiety goes some supplements may be of help, L-Tryptophan, GABA, 5-HTP, Saint Johns Wort and amino acids
Also a good diet, most nervous people do not eat well or even drink enough water.
