So far it has just been around and around and around. They said they didn't get my prescription, which Carecentrix said they sent. I went around the phone machines punching in numbers. Transfer to different departments. One person I talked to told me I had to call a different number, which was the number I had called to get to her. Another person I could not even hear. Each time I had to spell my short and not uncommon last name ten times to get them to put it in right. They said they had everything. I called and they didn't have the prescription, even though the last person said they did. Finally they said they had everything. Yesterday the left me a message saying they didn't have my prescription and would have to get it from my doctor.
It's been almost three weeks of constant calling and run-around and we haven't even begun yet.

I decided to just buy a machine from cpap.com. I’m tired of being tired.
I called the sleep center at the hospital to get a copy of my prescription. I got the lady that is always unhelpful. Ms. Nosey McNosey Pants says she can’t send it and wants to know why I want it. I lean into her and tell her it’s my medical record and I want it. She says they usually just fax it to DMEs. I tell her to fax it to cpap.com. She tells me they already faxed it to Carecentrix and wants to know what’s up with that? I tell her I might want to get equipment through cpap.com, like maybe a different mask. She tells me the mask is specified on the prescription, so… I challenge her that the specific brand and model of mask is not on the prescription and that this is exactly why I want to see the prescription. I lean into her. I get transferred to someone else. I think it might have been the doctor (I have never met my sleep doctor and only vaguely recall his name from my documents). He will mail me my prescription and fax it to cpap.com. Was that so hard?
About 10 minutes before I get off work and go home to place my order with cpap.com I get a call from Apria. The lady is very nice. Very helpful. She apologizes for the delay in getting things set up. She says there were some questions about the prescription that they had to clarify with my doctor. I set up an appointment for Wednesday.
I asked her a LOT of questions. She says I will be getting a ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet, which is what I was going to buy. It definitely is the AutoSet. It will be set on CPAP for continuous pressure of 18, with a ramp, but has the autoset in case auto is needed in the future.
No requests for a credit card. All her answers were on target and very helpful. So I have some hope.

Don't be surprised if the last hold-up is the need for a credit card. If you want it from them have a pre-paid debit card at the ready.

If this is your first cpap set @18 an auto is certainly nice but my guess is you will want or need a bipap soon.

+1
When you go in for your machine and instructions there will be a long (several pages) contract and a request for your credit card. I did give them mine which I hated but monitored it closely until the machine was paid off. That card expired and I told them not to keep my card, I would give it to them when I wanted to order supplies.
Like others have recommended a prepaid card sounds like the way to go.

It actually worked out very well. Other than Apria taking a few weeks to get me my machine, everything has been very good. Of course, I haven’t got any bill yet…
I asked a LOT of questions to Cigna, Carecentrix, and Apria. They patiently answered all of them and gave me answers that didn’t raise any alarms. No asking for a credit card. I got the ideal machine and a mask that I wanted anyway (although I would like to try a DreamWeaver, which they didn’t have). They were all very nice and patient and helpful.
So far, so good.
