Putting ice in the humidifier chamber and having the humidifier 'on' makes no sense, in my opinion. I imagine all this does is to make the heating element work harder to melt the ice and bring the water up to the right temperature to maintain the dialled in humidity.

The only way this could have any effect is using passive humidification with the setting 'off'.

Passive humidification is what I am using, no heat for the chamber.

Passive humidification is what I am using, no heat for the chamber.

I don't see how it could do any harm. I might even try it when it gets hot here in January and February...
