Re: Sleep Wake Junk - Waveforms

I have vasomotor rhinitis so congestion and general resistance make the nasal mask difficult. In the FFM I normally breath through the nose, for some reason the congestion isn't as bad. I have been using tape with the F10. My mouth never drops out, but if my chin drops a little, such as relaxing the jaw with my mouth closed, it leaks at the bottom right hand corner. I put two pieces of tape on the mask, one either side of the port, and then under my chin. If I relax my jaw the mask moves down slightly and it doesn't leak. I haven't seen many leaks on the SH data and no large leaks for at least 1 1/2 months.Jay Aitchsee wrote:Omne, if you look at some of the portions of your example above and compare them to the examples of Nasal Mask Waveforms I just posted, I think you'll see why I questioned whether you were wearing a nasal mask or if your chin drops out your FFM. If the chin drops out of a FFM, exposing the mouth, it is essentially converted to a Nasal Mask and the waveforms start to take on the same appearance. I think many of the results you are seeing are interface related, especially if you are seeing some significant leaks as well.
As a departure from what is normally recommended, maybe you should consider a Nasal Mask, like the P10, with a mouth cover like the one here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=112758#p1086296 Pillows seal easier and more effectively than a FFM and mouth leaks can be controlled to some degree with the cloth, which is far more comfortable than tape.
As I mentioned I will be trying out a couple of other masks and sizes. Hopefully that will help.
