It wasn't clear to me from your note where the quotation ended and (if) you began... never mind.

Sorry about my assumption.

All jokes aside, for some reason, I haven't been able to get the quote feature to work in this forum and have been forced to use quotes. So I can see why it would have caused confusion.

Quotes appear to be working properly for you now. I had also missed that your earlier post was a quote and not your writing.

Sorry I wasn't clear.

When I write a new post and link to an article, the quote feature unfortunately doesn't work when I try to post an exert. If I respond to a post in which someone previously used the quote feature like Julie did, everything is fine.

Unfortunately, I just haven't been able to figure out what the problem is. Since obviously, it is confusing, I guess I will have to make another attempt to resolve this situation.

Don't forget, if you have set aside any money for your old age......

1. Everyday you don't spend it it is worth less, due to inflation, that your government says doesn't exist. The government controls interest rates, so you can't get a safe return on your savings. Prints worthless money, to make the money you saved worthless. 19 Trillion dollars in debt, we are owned by Europe and China.

2. So raising wages will save the day? Not true, you get that Big Raise, for say, giving out a food order at McDee's, where you have to use a cash register with pictures on the keys, because you aren't smart enough to run a real one. After that raise you still give the customer the incorrect order, and no salt and ketchup for the fries.

What you don't realize as you carry that new found raise home, it doesn't weigh that much. The government has seen your raise, and raised your taxes and F.I.C.A., that's not all, all prices for everything rises. Everyone needs a raise. Did you Ever See A Dog Chase It's Tail? The difference between us and a Dog, the Dog does catch his tail every now and again. Dogs are smarter than voters.

To add insult to injury, you are paid with money that is worth less each day, why do you think the government get their money every paycheck up front. It's because they want to get it before it sinks in vaule. JIM

I picked 1969 food prices because that's when my dad put me to work. All the kids on my block used to get a spending allowance from their parents to buy sodas and junk food an what not. When I asked my dad for an allowance, he told me I was lucky he didn't charge me an allowance to keep me fed and clothed with a roof over my head. Instead he made a deal with me. He told me that if I would mow our home lawn free of charge, he would lend me his lawn mower free of charge, and I could go and ask the neighbors to mow their lawns for spending money (I had to pay for my own gasoline of course at 25 cents per gallon, riding my bike about a mile to the Texaco station every weekend). That summer of 1969, I made over $300 mowing lawns at $5 each for 6 neighborhood homes ... I had just finished the 3rd grade at the beginning of the summer of 1969 (no picking up pennys or getting up at 4AM to throw a paper route for me ). The work ethic my dad gave me at such a young age had me working my first real job as a grocery clerk by the time I was 15 -- and during my senior year in high school on my 18th birthday, I went and bought my first car, a brand new maroon Celica GT with brown leather interior, and I paid $6,700 cash at the Toyota dealer. The summer after I graduated from high school, I started my own business as a handyman of sorts working with a handful of high dollar interior designers as clients installing custom wall coverings, window coverings, floor coverings, and plumbing and light fixtures for them. I moved out of my parent's home by my 19th birthday and was on my own paying my way through college to get my undergraduate degree (tuition cost me $300 for a 12 hr semester plus about another $300 +or - for books ... I was averaging about $30 per hour with my business and I could work part time with very flexible hours ... my rent and utilities were under $200 per month). Those were the good o'le days when people could make a life for themselves. Now days kids have to take out $50K loans to go to college which they can never pay back because the college degrees they earn can only get them jobs working at McDonalds or Home Depot ... as was obvious by the Sanders movement. The country is going down the toilet real fast these days.
