I do notice a huge difference today, but the inverse: with my CPAP of 8 or 10 cm H2O and a history of 3 month usage, this morning I sleep 30 min (from 06:00 til 06:30) WITHOUT CPAP.
Oh my god, I want to cry for my former self when I did not know I have OSA.

I'm into my 8th month and the change has been both immediate and gradual. I was using an F&P Icon Auot and had some quite high numbers and didn't feel that great either. When I changed to the Resmed S9 the improvement, like a step upwards, was immediate. It's now been a gradual process over the last 5 months and while I still have some feelings of fatigue during the day I no longer want to fall asleep at my desk the few times I sit at it. I also wake up with a clear mind and I am able to process how my day is going to progress, etc. (I start at the pool coaching my swim squad very early in the morning and need to know what I'm going to do before I get there). While I don't exactly bounce out of bed I no longer have to drag myself to the bathroom to start my day.
The biggest improvemnt has been in my mindset. I now realise that depression (and its related symptoms) had been a regular part of my life for quite a while. This is no longer an issue.
The proof for me has been the odd occasion when I've got up in the middle of the night for a toilet stop and when I've gone back to bed I have not put my mask back on. The next morning I wake up feeling like absolute crap! PAP therapy works.
I still have quite a way to go but reading the posts of veteran CPAP users, I know that there are even better results further down the track for me.

before anybody takes this guy too seriously, and gets despondent, you should read about his naughty room, and other fantastic things happening to him.
Sorry palerider, there must be a huge misunderstanding here.
With all respect to what you have done to me and to others, in this case I guess you have read me too quickly.
What I meant: the 30 minutes sleeping without CPAP at 06:00 this morning, the time when I often should have deep sleep, gives me the following bad symptoms
- heavy chest and heavy head after waking up
- terrible sleepiness after lunch
, just like my pre-CPAP life.

How did you understand this "I want to cry for my former self when I did not know I have OSA" ?

Um, I think it really has been 1 1/2 months and I'm pretty sure I only starting noticing it a week or so ago. I'm also pretty sure it's been an incremental improvement.
If you know something I don't know, please let me in on it.

I understood what you meant, jaw. And I liked the visual when I first read it before these additional posts.
*crying for your old self that didn't even know why he (you) felt so bad and that it could have been fixed sooner!"
I cry for old suffering you, too!*
However, the fact that *I* understood may just be PROOF that it wasn't apparent to many?
I tend to like alternative writing styles.
..and I am generally in the tiny minority of most situations.
it's really great though to have the feedback by palerider to help clarify. I really respect palerider for saying things that many people reading might only think. We are all better when there is feedback both positive and negative in life.
The new ideas of "safe space" and "everyone wins just for participating" are such dangerous concepts it terrifies me. It weakens us all. Next thing we know even weight lifters will constantly use the lightest weights possible so that there is no undue stress.
The world is becoming deluded. Personally, *I* find the occasional 'reality checks' here on cpap talk VERY refreshing. (and funny)
...and I love the 'trippiness' of alternative writing styles like yours, jaw.
Personally, I abhor dull, dry writing styles even if they are community college level proficient in punctuation and spelling.
Though I suppose they are better than texts and twitters?
I vote NO to 'safe spaces'
and YES to 'FREE SPACES'

Patient-centered responses are the most valuable to newbies. Self-centered responses - not so good.

Did you even bother to read the original post?
" I am new to this and have only had the machine for 2 days but
how long did it take you to notice differences.
In other words the poster specifically asked for "self-centered responses".
Understand?

For what it is worth, I had no trouble understanding your post either. Forums can be needlessly hostile.
I'm curious about OPs untreated vs treated AHI.

People who are good at analysis and problem solving understand that patients often ask the wrong questions. Accurately defining the problem is the
first step in making improvements and finding solutions. In this case the problem has not been defined.
Tripman has made only one post, and all we know about him is:
tripman wrote:I am new to this and have only had the machine for 2 days but how long did it take you to notice differences. Especially waking up with excessive fatigue, not being sleepy or tired all day after you started using the machine.
The first questions we should ask of him are along the lines of:
ChicagoGranny wrote:Wulfman... wrote:It all depends on how soon you get your therapy optimized........finding the correct pressure, getting leaks minimized, getting a sufficient amount of sleep time, using software to monitor therapy, not falling back to sleep without using your machine, no naps without the machine......etc., etc., etc.
The first thing is to ask you some questions. Are you monitoring your therapy with software, or at the very least through the clinician's reports on the machine display? What is your leak level? What is your AHI? Please fill out your equipment profile -
https://www.cpaptalk.com/ucp.php?i=prof ... pment_info
Are you aware that everyone's CPAP process needs to be evaluated
after they start using it at home in their own bed because it may be far from optimal?
It could be harmful to him to hear "It took me six weeks." or "It took me four months." if his pressure is too low, or his leak is too high. He could waste weeks
waiting to feel better. Or worse, he could give up not realizing that his therapy needs to be optimized and monitored.
