It's been going on for years and another batch of them here lately.
I would think that all the manufacturers (and their highly-paid techs) would have come up with improvements on their own.

They have been driving on round tires too long, time to try something else, squares are nice. Common sense is becoming a uncommon commodity in the US. Jim

Did you happen to see the recent replay of a Mythbusters episode? The tried using square wheels/tires on a pickup. Didn't work out too well.

Bbbzzzttt, wrong guess!
It will draw only as much power as the device needs
under load, which for a xPAP device is
highly dependent on the user settings.
4A at ~12V is 48W of power, which is enough to do quite a bit with a contemporary xPAP device like an S9

So the first question is whether to battery has enough power - although it claims "4 amps" its a very fuzzy spec. The startup load on the S9 is around 3 amps, and every on breadth the pumps ramps up to about 2 amps. Some of these packs have had issues with startup loads dropping the voltage below some cutoff point which makes them shutdown. In theory this should work but the only way to find out is to try it.
The other question is how to connect the cpap to the battery. For this I would recommend splicing a cigarette lighter plug onto the DC converter, and a socket onto the battery pack. Make sure you get the polarity correct on both.

I was a dumb to have snipped the cig lighter. I spliced that back in place. I also snipped the the alligator clips and spliced that to the DC out cable from my QI. I ran a five minute test today and it worked--no climateline and no humidifier. I will try it out tonight and see how much battery it uses. I'll post the results.
I am doing RAGBRAI in a few weeks and they will carry up to 50 pounds of gear. I was trying to get the weight down as much as possible. This weighs a total of 6 pounds for the battery, its charger, the Resmed main unit, the unheated hose and mask.

I used it for about six hours last night. The battery had 74% left when I woke up. I was thinking I'd have to recharge the battery daily, so this is awesome if I can get three nights from one full charge.

We eagerly await the results of this test - I've been skeptical of the "per cent" readouts, since its pretty much a guess how much juice is used unless there is advanced circuitry. The battery should be good for 16 to 20 hours if the pressure is modest, so this has chance of working. Remember that to really top off the battery probably take longer than 5 hours, maybe overnight.

After two nights and 12.3 hours of use, my Qi battery was showing 35% this morning. I'll try it again tonight to see if I can get a third night from it.

Sorry if I offended you by snipping a few wires. I'm new here, and I understand how that works on message forums. You don't know if the new person is a complete fool in all matters or some kind of flame thrower who just got kicked out from another forum for refusing to play nice, and is looking for a new place to rant and rave with some new folks who will be duped into listening for awhile to their meaningless drivel. So most people treat the message board newcomers with a healthy dash of skepticism. No offense taken for that.
It is my nature to try things that are unconventional. To be merely average in all things you just follow what the majority does. I don't like to live my life that way or run my business that way. To be better than that you have to be willing to go against the grain and make mistakes while trying out new things here and there.

Battery showed 7% left after using it last night for the third night, so a little over 18 hours on one charge.
