I go to urgent care as soon as I start having any indications of bronchitis. I am asthmatic and must seek treatment at the earliest possible minute. The last time I waited a full day after my symptoms sat in, I ended up with pneumonia. I no longer wait. The local urgent care center is aware of my medical history and have told me to come in immediately when I start having symptoms.

I get asthmatic bronchitis and the ONLY time I don't cough is on CPAP. I crank up the humidity and can sleep
Way better than before CPAP.

Yes this so much! I even have worn it during the day while coding.

The first few times I had a bad cough while using cpap, I would have a coughing fit and rip off the mask as I gasped for air. I finally realized that it was just like newbies with a start pressure that was too low. I changedmy start pressure from 11 to 13, and I was able to get through the coughing fit without gasping for air. And then able to fall asleep and quit coughing.

It only happens a couple times a year, but I now change my starting pressure to help me get past the coughing fits.

Great idea, Zoo!
I would not have thought of that.
Another thought; the deep cough is so valued in hospitals that they give you the inhalation doohickey.
You can duplicate the deep cough at home by drawing in a very deep breath.
That usually helps you make a nice, deep cough. Great for clearing out the gunk.

My kids used to laugh at me because I sound like I'm "coughing up a lung". Now my 15 year old has developed cough variant asthma and did her own coughing up a lung this month. Not laughing anymore!

I started using my CPAP in mid April and less than one month later I developed bronchitis. I have never had any type of respiratory problems in my life until I started using the CPAP. I am convinced they are connected. My other problem is that with or without the CPAP I don't sleep. I mean at all. Well, I may get two hours per night if I'm lucky--usually not. I normally sit and read or watch TV (can't sleep lying down) while my CPAP runs uselessly. If I don't use it at least four hours a day my insuance won't pay. So I'm thinking, what is the point? I've tried sleeping aids, all the usual remedies but I remain sleepless. Can anybody relate?

CPAP's do NOT cause bronchitis, but lack of sleep probably has you run down and trashed your immune system. So are you interested in having some help to learn to be able to use your CPAP AND get good sleep, or do you just plan to keep pretending you're using it and blame it for your troubles? We can help, if you're interested in trying.
