If your cousin keeps his eye out for cheap used units maybe you guys could go into the apnea business. Awhile back I was talking to a girl in singapore about what US swag they needed over there.

Your hygiene question reminded me of my friends mom. She bought a toaster oven at a yard sale. It was in great shape but when she plugged it in and it started to heat up about 50 cockroaches came running out. That would be even funnier if it happened when you were hooked up to a used CPAP.

You might want to search the site for soft cervical collar. I've not used one, but I've seen it mentioned several times in the past

Sleeping in a chair or something else that keeps you upright is my recommended solution as well.

I had a horrible time getting my machine initially -- Sleep study was in November 2014 and for various reasons, it was January 2015 before I got my first machine. I now have that machine plus a back up if for some reason the main one quits working (back up is an older model purchased at a discount). I also have a battery set up for when the power is out. For me no CPAP = no sleep and an anxiety attack
