some people are positively DESPERATE to convince themselves that they didn't just throw hundreds of dollars down the drain.... no matter what the facts of the matter are.

your fancy wallet cleaner doesn't CLEAN anything in your cpap equipment (just your wallet), it doesn't even pretend to except in the product name. it claims to 'sanitize' which is a wholly different process, and even that is technically dubious, according to people that work with professional ozone sanitizing equipment.

I certainly would not want to use equipment that had suffered such abuse!
Eeeeeeew!
Just the thought of dead and decaying microbes going into my lungs
makes me want to throw up in my mouth.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. Nonetheless, I think I'll keep using it.

Well sure, you've already wasted money on it, so keep on using it.

Since I am in the industry, it is not an opinion it is fact. I am pasting information from my competitor, the only unit to use ozone for sterilization. When they first started out they used ozone only, now you will see they have added VHP (Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide) which is the only sterilizing agent the other sterilizers providers use. Not only did they find it necessary to add VHP to the process, they add ultra pure O2 to generate the ozone. This unit costs more than 100K; why do you think your little 300.00 machine does anything worth doing?

The STERIZONE® VP4 Sterilizer uses dual sterilants, vaporized hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and ozone (O3), in a multiphase process, and is the only dual-sterilant sterilizer cleared for use in the United States.
After a pre-conditioning step, the first cycle phase is initiated with the Dynamic H2O2 exposure step. During this step, a 50 weight-percent hydrogen peroxide solution (referred to as 125-280 Solution™) is injected at a fixed injection rate in vapor form into the sterilization chamber. The patent-pending micro-pulsed injection (referred to as Dynamic Sterilant Injection System™) continues until a differential pressure set point of 19 Torr is reached. The total amount of hydrogen peroxide introduced into the sterilization chamber, and thus the duration of the injection, varies depending on load composition, weight and temperature. Thus, the STERIZONE® VP4 Sterilizer is the first sterilizer to automatically vary the amount of sterilant based on the load, which is why a single-cycle can be used to sterilize a wide variety of different loads.
The ozone used in the process is generated within the sterilizer using high purity grade oxygen (e.g. 94% O2 or greater). Oxygen required by the sterilizer can be supplied by connecting directly to the hospital’s existing oxygen network or a portable oxygen cylinder.

And now we come to definitions; sanitizing vs sterilizing.
Sanitizing can be as simple as thoroughly washing an item, or using a chemical to kill MOST microbes.
Sterilization is more aggressive, striving to kill/remove ALL microbes.
Removal is important, as many microbes reproduce by spores, which may survive all but the most extreme measures.
There is no substitute for cleaning, which is easy, quick, and cheap--sufficient for most purposes,
unless you need to live in a bubble for genuine medical (not psychological) reasons.
Since SoClean DOES NOT CLEAN, it is a filthy excuse for laziness. There, I've said it.

of course, I wouldn't want your warm fuzzy feeling to be swayed by facts... though, you might want to go back and read the manual, where it does tell you that you have to clean your equipment...

You know, it's ok to say you've been 'taken', and that knowledgable people have showed you reality and sense... no one's born with smarts about everything and all of us have been hoodwinked at some point. Some day you'll realize that applies to you and this issue, but everyone here will be long gone, never hear you say 'thanks'. Unless you do that now, stop defending a mistake, stop justifying the wrong, we'll understand a lot better than we do your continuing to stick with your position (and look like a dork doing it).

I've been taken before, I wasn't happy about being a fool, but sometimes you just forget to open that carton of eggs you bought and sometimes one is cracked. I take it as a stupid learning experience, from now on I remember to check them. Jim

If eggs cost $ 300.00 a dozen I would have probably checked them.

Sometimes, not getting "taken" depends purely on luck.
The rest of the time, we learn from mistakes--hopefully someone else's.
One can be fooled and not be a fool. (Once)
Denying that one was fooled is very foolish.
Trying to fool others is just plain criminal.

That would be sterilization of surgical instruments and high level disinfection of medical equipment; that industry.
