Black Shampoo wrote:The Mirage Quattro. It's a big, heavy, horrible piece of shit with like 84 parts, it's a nightmare to clean, the straps are horrible and stretch out like crazy within a month tops, but it just plain works and keeps the leaks in. It's the devil I know.
When I got the Simplus in case the Elan was intolerable to use, that was my 2nd choice. I think when I am eligible for another mask, I will give it a shot.
You have described it well by the way. LOL!

The Mirage Quattro has one redeeming feature, which can be bought separately.
The headgear comes in a SMALL, which can be also used on the P-R Comfortgel (blue)
So, my fave full face mask is P/R Comfortgel, but with a small Resmed headgear.

Is there an advantage to a forehead strap? I have the Airfit F10. Can't wear glasses with it. I find that I am constantly adjusting the straps to get it centered and not leak, and I feel like I have to have it strapped on pretty tight to keep it right in place and avoid leaks. It's the only mask I've used.

I have only used FFM and I don't notice a rush of air on my face. I started with a Resmed Mirage (circa 2000) and went to an Ultra Mirage with the self destructing forehead support, to the Quattro FX without the forehead support, so I no longer have indents on my forehead.
That mask has worked well for me, as I have been using the same Quattro FX mask for almost 5 years (replaced the cushion once), and have 3 more in the closet, so... it appears that it is going to be my choice for the foreseeable future. In all honesty, when comparing to the masks from 15 years ago, everything is a vast improvement.
I have done one mod... I gave up on factory headgear 6 months after I got my initial Mirage. Through some trial and error, I have settled on elastic straps with plastic slides and I cover the straps with a sports headgear. I use cut narrow wrist bands to replace the long gone foam cushions that slide over the FX upper strap arms. May not work for everyone, but I have no complaints.

I like my ResMed F10 FFM because it is more comfortable and quiet than all the rest that I've tried. I'd like to see an XL mask option (including the headgear), but I've been whining about that for a year and it hasn't happened yet.

Been using a bipap since January 13th 2016. The local DME selected the ResMed F10 for me. I tried it one night and took it back the next day. Using a swift fx now. It's a bit leaky yet conformable. But I need a FFM!
Out of pocket I have tried the ResMed Swift fx nano and Mirage Liberty. Ordered the Mirage Quattro today. It's the same mask they used on me for my over night sleep study. Also have a dreamwear mask on order.

It is important to try out masks from different companies.
There seems to be some consistency within a particular brand name.
I found that Resmed's full face fitting paradigm assumes at least a certain size nose; {{{bigger'n mine}}}
and a much more prominent chin that I was issued. This is for all their full face masks that I have tried.
Respironics face shape seems to come a bit closer to fitting me; but the Comfortgel has a thick,
soft gel cushion, which allows for fitting more unconventional--but beautiful--faces.

I'm a newbie, but currently using a Quattro Mirage FFM which seems to be a good mask (except for the marks across the bridge of my nose after the first couple of nights). Used a F and P Simplus during my sleep study....have one ordered and hoping it comes in soon. It seemed to really fit my face well without any pressure across my nose or forehead.

When I first started, I also used the Quattro Mirage FFM. Be careful of the marks across the bridge of your nose. This mask caused a very large sore on the bridge of my nose. Until you get your Simplus, you can try using a band aid or a piece of moleskin on your nose where the mask rubs. Once the skin breaks in that area, it becomes hard to wear a mask until it heals.

We are almost ten months now since January 30, 2016 post on the question: "What is your favorite full face mask with headgear and why?". Please, what has changed since then. Are you still using the same mask and headgear? If not, what kind of your favorite full face mask with headgear you are using now and why you like it?. For me, no change. Still with resmed quattro air full face mask.

I gave the Mirage Quattro about a month. it was heavy, klunky, and uncomfortable for me as a new CPAP-er.
The DME suggested I try the Quattro Air. I've been with it for a couple years now.
Seems to fit me well and much better for me in the comfort department.
I do use REMZZ mask liners to assist with the fit and to minimize leaks.

Just a reminder; Karen at Pad a Cheek makes washable, reusable mask liners to fit most full face masks.

I've been using the Quattro and FX for several years. Couple of weeks ago I got a F/P Flexifit 431. Absolutely love it. It has a flap that goes under the chin. Keeps the mask from riding up and seems to seal really well around the beard. Good results on SH. And good price. The mask comes with s, m, and l cushions for the base.
