My answer to #2: No good answer exists; because it is a rhetorical question,
forcing approval of the OP's own flavor of bullying as the only alternative to doing nothing,
--and trusting the good people of the forum to do the right thing.
Which most of them are already doing!
The stinkers are apparently here to stay.

I know it is easy to see the bully in others and not in ourselves, but I think you and I probably see each other as bullies. I took something you said regarding depression on another thread to heart and I shouldn't have. I reacted with anger, seeing your comment. So now I have this label "stinker". I kind of feel okay with it. Because I can be totally honest when you say something that is potentially harmful to others.
If crickets are mockery, then I'm in.

Considering the source, I am delighted about the stamp of "approval".

So- two questions for my fellow forum members:
1. Do you agree to the use of 'crickets' as a means to signal a member that they may be offending to someone else? YES or NO
2. Are you a forum member that wants to work with other members to find solutions to keep cpaptalk.com functioning without conflict? YES or NO
Thank you for your prompt response!
1. No
2. Yes
However, if the Goodmans wanted to change this situation, they could implement moderated status on individual members.

As it is, this forum is a reflection of their brand and, to the extent that it reflects on the brand, they seem to like the way it is.

This thread and the other troll-filled thread should be locked. No more, no less.

One step farther than that, some threads NEED to be deleted, not locked, we as a community don't need to advertise for all time how far off a judgment we can make when posting on forums. Newbies are coming here they still see the same thread and it'll just fuel more discontent after all another drink and we started anytime. Jim

Hey, more answers to the questions, or are these changes to previous answers? I dunno, SleepyEyes21 has the giant tabulator to keep track.
So it looks like the answer to the questions:
1. Do you agree to the use of 'crickets' as a means to signal a member that they may be offending to someone else? YES or NO
2. Are you a forum member that wants to work with other members to find solutions to keep cpaptalk.com functioning without conflict? YES or NO
Are basically More "No, I prefer public execution of people I don't agree with and make me feel important" and "NO, I want someone else to do it because Freedom!"
I don't see any trolls on this thread. I did see some trolls and some really hateful comments on some other threads. Beyond the hate, some believe they can practice medicine without a license and are better than doctors, which I'm not sure is good for anyone's "brand" :
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=53622&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... n&start=60
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=109926&p=1052287&hi ... y#p1052287

I absolutely agree that newbies see what is going on here. I did when I first joined. I didn't ask questions and my ahi was over 134.8 in my sleep study. I was completely exhausted, my heart was suffering, my liver and other organs were being damaged nightly from a lack of oxygen when my O2sat dropped to 66%. I was dizzy half the time. Searching for answers, there were all these rules and most were very terse in replies to other newbies to just look up an answer, load this software, upload and provide charts. It is a lot to ask when a person is sick. My DME (Hi Larry) has been great, but I wanted to find my own answers too. Coming here, there seemed to be a lot of camaraderie, which is great for those in the group, if that didn't mean that people would gang up on others. Just little me reading it, it looked like geriatric Lord of the Flies at times.
I think most of us that read Lord of the Flies remembers how that turned out.

The MAJOR problem with this is that how and who determines which threads to delete. The only logical way to do it would be to mass delete everything posted before a specified date. But that would result in loss of some really really really good historic stuff.

Exactly Hose_Head. Many of the folks who keep pointing out the benefits of unmoderated forums don't seem to mind imposing their own band of moderation regarding what threads they think should be deleted.
