My dentist diagnosed the bumps on the roof of my mouth as papilloma virus. I'm scheduled to have laser surgery and a biopsy done to check for cancer. Now I'm wondering if my full face CPAP is the cause. If it is, I'm also wondering if this will be a recurring problem and whether the oral surgery will be beneficial.

Has anyone else had this problem?

You need to talk to your MD - sounds to me far more likely that you acquired (or had latent) that particular virus through sexual contact with someone else who carries it... it's not something remotely likely to occur through Cpap unless you bought your machine on e.g. Craig's list very, very recently (viruses don't last long outside of nice warm hosts).

No, but if you are suffering from dry mouth, you need to be diligent about oral hygiene.
A wet mouth has better immunity than a dry mouth.
If you are/were a smoker, or have used smokeless tobacco, I would knock that off--NOW.
Oral cancer comes from tobacco and oral sex; not from cpap.

Why not!?!?! You wouldn't be the first to try to blame any medical (or other) condition on this therapy. Hangnails, ingrown toenails, zits........you name it, it's been blamed on this therapy.

Use some common sense and think about it.
I've got an even better idea........do some research on it.
My question would be........"What all have you been putting in your mouth?"
In some cases it's classified as an STD (that's Sexually Transmitted Disease in case you didn't know).
So, if you're having "sex" with your CPAP, that would be an interesting development.

Sorry Wulfman. It's not an STD issue. You need to do more research.

The problem is wearing a full face mask (not from Craig's list) and breathing the humidified air over the salivary glands when my mouth is open. My oral dental surgeon said its more commonly found in smokers (for the non-STD folks), but could well be caused from the air inflow from the CPAP.

Just looking to see if anyone else had the same experience.

Just an update on this issue: The biopsy results determined it to be "fibromyalgia with secondary candida infection". My oral surgeon explained it in layman terms as "a fungus on a callus".

Are you sure they said fibromyalgia? Just wondering because I have this and can't understand about the fungus relationship, and hoping you are wrong cause I don't need this.

The Candida part makes sense, the fibromyalgia not at all.

I'm going to guess that was "fibroma," not "fibromyalgia."
