I'm glad that y'all can laugh about this, because MyAir mostly pisses me off. But then what can you expect from an industry which uses the word "compliance" to describe what people do when they are freakin UNCONCIOUS?!?!?!
I had the following exchange with their tech supposrt people last February:
Me:
As I back and forth through the different dates, the score shown in the circle jumps around. The "show details" button shows me a particular score for a particular day, but the total at the top is sometimes the same, sometimes different, and which ones are wrong changes and how much they are wrong by changes.
Them:
Hello Cathy,
Thank you for contacting ResMed. There are circumstances that can delay the transmission such as poor cellular coverage, a device being powered down, or in some cases excessive data traffic into myAir. Because of this your score may change cause the data has not completely updated.
Thank you
MyAir Support Team
Me: (Huh? Really? Did you freakin READ what I wrote?) I responded with 17 screenshots and the following excruciatingly detailed narration.
The problem is not with the data stored at the ResMed site — the data displayed on the “score details” section of the web page is apparently correct. (The usage times and the AHIs are quite close to what is reported on the SD card.) But the “myAir score” reported on the top, in the multi-colored circle, wanders around and takes bizarre values as you page back and forth through the various days by hitting the > and < on the web page. The number in the circle for any particular date is totally inconsistent.
Example: Sleep day Feb 14th, which I paged through 4 times in this series of screenshots. First time I went to it, the total score was shown as 87 on the top. The second time, 98, and the third time, 97, the fourth time 98. The detail score was always 98, and the usage was always reported as 8:00 hours, 0.3 AHI and mask on/off of 3. The data reported on the card is 7:58:05 usage, AHI of 0.38, and 5 sleep sessions.
Example: Sleep day Feb 15th, which I paged through 3 times in this series of screenshots. First time I went to it, the total score was shown as 99 on the top. The second time, 87, and the third time, 66. The detail score was always 99, and the usage was always reported as 7:41 hours, 0.2 AHI and mask on/off of 2. The data reported on the card is 7:40:01 usage, AHI of 0.26, and 2 sleep sessions.
Each sleep score is reported on the page twice — once on top as the summary number, and once down below in the detail breakout. The detail section appears to be always right, so ResMed DOES have the correct data.
To which they replied:
Thank you for the explanation. I will forward this to the developers. I apologize for the inconvenience.
It's fixed now, but it wasn't fixed in May (the last time I looked.) They must have completely rewritten the user interface after somebody actually USED it when they had to test that the bug I reported was fixed. In the old interface, when you hit the arrow to change days it redrew the entire page, closed up the bottom detail section, and scrolled back to the top so that when you reopened the detail section you had to scroll down to see it. Now the detail part stays open, is vertically compact, and as you page through the different days it uses javascript or ajex or something similar to quickly and efficiently redraw the data that is changing.
The whole MyAir project is complete amateur hour. The random and arbitrary scoring system. The snotty childish badges. The (rather horrifying) notion that you would share any of their embarrassingly childish crap on your social media. The obvious fact that no one tested the MyAir web software before implementing it, and they were completely surprised at how the site operated six months later. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition which kills people every day. Sleep apnea treatments can be frustratingly difficult to implement because it all happens when the patient is ASLEEP and can't monitor the performance of the equipment in real time. When people are ASLEEP they are UNCONSCIOUS, and insulting them for their supposed "choices" while unconscious is nasty and childish and demonstrates contempt for the patients who use the equipment.
Given that I'm relying on the machine to operate properly when I'm UNCONSCIOUS and can't monitor it, ResMed's performance in implementing the MyAir website is quite frankly rather scary.
