Sorry for not being clear. My prescription is for an auto BIPAP machine.

Here's the prescription:

That is a generic prescription so that your insurance will cover any possible items you may need. It is good to have it that way so anything you could possible ever want is considered ok by your Dr. Alot of those items are duplicates and some you may never need. I think the Dr just wrote it that way so anything you get is covered by insurance.
When you get your machine, it will come with the necessary supplies to get you started. The replacement schedule varies from person to person. That list looks overwhelming, but all those parts are not necessary to get you started. Just concentrate on what machine and mask you want. The rest will fall into place.

That pressure setting can't even be put into a PR760 .... 12 + 6 = 18 .... not 17 .
And it will never auto adjust with that setting.

My Auto bipap was ordered initally with fixed pressures but auto was available if needed later. The PS (pressure support) should be the difference between IPAP and EPAP.

I think this is what they did with mine -- ordered an auto one just to be on the safe side, but starting with fixed pressures.
That make sense to anyone else? Basically that ANY auto-bipap will work?

I think most of the bipap/vpap's are auto's
Some of the specialized one like ST are not auto

edit ... no I was wrong the PR650 is not an auto

Still saving up for a BiPAP, but happened to see a possible on Craigslist (the previous one didn't work out at all). RemStar Plus Series M with humidifier for $100, comes with what appear to be sealed tubing and a nasal mask (which I'd throw up here as I'd have to buy a full face mask). Already asked him about run hours, smoke-free, et al.

That said, now that I'm looking at it, it appears this is a discontinued unit and is not an auto-BiPAP. Am I correct in this, and if so, I should pass, yes?

You are correct...that machine is NOT a bipap/bilevel machine at all and it isn't auto adjusting either....and it offers no data at all beyond hours of use. Definitely pass on it.

If you can find a suitable bipap/bilevel machine...I can probably fix you up with a full face mask if I happen to have one in your size for just the cost of postage. Just get with me privately via PMs if you want more information on the masks that I might have. I have 3 full face masks that were donated and barely used and look brand new.

Okay, I should have my machine tomorrow (Respironics 760) and mask (Resmed F10).

Can I set this up myself, or do I need to take it to my sleep center to do it?? Also, is there anything else I"m going to need to buy, such as filters and the like?

I'm just wanting to make sure, as this is my first machine.

Thanks!

you can set it up yourself, if you know what settings it needs. get a manual for it.

scroll down to section 3 on this page for instructions on how to request a manual via email:
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

ask for this:
Respironics PR System One 60 Series BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex
for your 760

if you use the white allergy filters, you'll need to buy replacments on a regular basis, I suggest ebay or amazon. the foam filter is washable and rarely needs to be replaced.

Yup, settings are above on the page:

17cm Max IPAP, 12cm Min EPAP and PS 6CM. I just wasn't sure if it came with the filters or not.

Of course, now that I read the manual, I see that it does include the filters. Whee

Okay. I'm having a problem during setup. I was able to set the Max IPAP to 17, and the Min EPAP to 12, but my PS is supposed to be 6. There's a MIN PS and a MAX PS, but both are between 0 and 5. How do I set these?

I'm also not sure what to set for Bi-Flex (1-3), Humidifier (1-3), Ramp Time, Ramp Start, Resistance, Mask Alert, Mask Fit Check, Humidifier (I presume on), Split Night, Silent Mode,

well, there's a fundamental flaw in your prescription, in that it's not *possible*. 17/12 is a PS of 5, that's why the machine isn't giving you a higher possible number. it was written by someone that either doesn't know what they're doing, or wasn't paying attention.

you could set the max ipap at 25 and a maxps of 6, maybe minps of 4, and see how things go tonight.

biflex, humidifier ramp, ramp start are all comfort features, there's no 'right' setting.

resistance is probably best left at zero, mask alert on, or off as you like, mask fit check on, (lets you do a mask test to see if leaks are ok at that point) split night off, silent mode probably off, unless you like the thing making noises and beeps at you.
