The year is 2015, nearly 2016 and this forum has been around since 2005 I believe. Surely you are aware that people join here, stay for awhile and then for their own reasons leave, and perhaps rejoin a year or two later under a new name. So, the people you and LSAT are referring to as a "newbee" may have simply rejoined with a new name and ain't really a new person after all. Several well respected people here have done just that for their own reasons (and a few not so respected). Den is one of those respected people who has freely admitted to this, or I wouldn't have mentioned his name. At this time there are two people I know about who have returned as a "new" member. One is a man who has returned as a women, which I find "interesting" to say the least.
So, I'm going to suggest that you think twice before ass-uming someone is a new person.
I is all becoming very clear now; yes I understand why you would want to come back with a different name

Doesn't look like the nuclear option.
You just never know.
You cannot see how rude that was, telling people if they have a specific question they could get it answered here, are you blind?

Well, there were a couple of other forums which forbade answering many questions and against helping users become more "in charge" of their own therapy. Their answer to everything was "Go ask your doctor or DME."
Both of them are pretty much "kaput" now.
Couldn't post helpful links either.
That's why this one is still around and is the very best.

You haven't the slightest idea who I am -- only a few people who have been on this forum at least six plus years would know me. You are doing that assuming thing again.

To me, the value of the internet (forums email) is that I can use it when I want, at odd hours, and I don't have to be online (awake, whatever) at the same time as the people I want to communicate with. I am a severe night owl, out of sync with much of the world near me. I can come home and login at midnight and read posts and emails. I can reply at my convenience and know that I will probably have replies again when I get up (in the afternoon). Every "night" before I go to bed, I get emails from a friend who is an early bird on the east coast.
To me, using chat is like using the phone. You have to be awake and available at the same time as the people you want to chat with. Otherwise, it is a free for all, which isn't much fun for me either. If I want to chat with somebody in particular, I can always do private messaging.
Also, since very few people use chat, and it seems to be empty much of the time, it doesn't seem like it would be a useful place to get good answers. The best people to get answers from are NOT there, so it makes more sense to ask questions on the main forum, where I know they will look.
That's why one develops a schedule of events. A different perspective: the most popular means of communicating today is through texting, and real-time posting. Those are both forms of "chat".
No where in any of my posts did I say that the chat room would be for everyone. But if there was a topic specific schedule nightly, guarantee it would used by many members and non-members alike.
Thanks for your reply.
You know, your original post asked why people don't use the chat option. I answered. Why are you arguing with the people who answered your question.
If you want to set up some topics and be a leader within chat, go for it. Nothing is stopping you. If enough people like the idea, you may just get it going again. The fact is that many of us are not interested for various reasons, and that doesn't make us bad for not wanting to join in. Nobody here is stopping you. The owners won't interfere unless something goes really bad, so have at it.
No need to get upset with those who aren't interested in chat. It is clearly not for everybody.

Wrong, I have received 3 PM's, 2 telling me who they think you are and both guessed the same person. I think I know who you are - not that I care who you are

LOL! Hi Den -- I think for now I'll keep my identify a secret.
I decided to come back as a relative newbee because out of nowhere I started having trouble with this therapy and was just hoping that maybe I'd read about new things that had come about over the years. I did decide to get the new Dreamwear mask after reading so much about it here. Special thanks to Pugsy. Should get it tomorrow or Sat. I think. Also decided to have another sleep study - this time at home. Waiting on the results. I can't remember when Sleeyphead came about but I never really got the hang of it - both getting it on my computer and learning about my data, and depended on my doctor. (I know, I know, lol). I intend to do things a little different this go around. I'm going to get SH! Okay... enough... I got this thread way off topic. So glad to see that you are still here and hope you are doing well - sounds like it!

Heck, this thread was "off topic" when it started.
I went back through your posts and still have no clue. But, go ahead......be whoever you want to be. I DON'T CARE!!!

So isn't this forum for chatting about chatting in a chat room or am I in the wrong place?

Well daggone it Lucy. I was all prepared to walk away from this thread but now you've got me curious. I would have guessed someone more recent, but if it's really been more than 6 years, I'm drawing a blank. Generally repeat personalities tend to reveal themselves over time. Maybe after a while some old familiar name will cross my mind.

I don't like to chat. I like to discuss and rant and cuss. So I do that here in the forum for all to see. Because everything I post is gold. At least in my mind.

I've got a few names in mind. But, I'm not going to embarrass myself by throwing out the wrong one(s).
I know one in particular that used bi-level therapy, as does "Lucy".
