Yup - Both the mask setting and the tubing setting are correct [and double checked]

Do you put the mask "open part down" (that is the best way I can articulate that ) on your pillow or would that even make a difference?

Its open part up. That should give maximum air flow to trigger the shut off

It sounds like the machine is defective. There is a 2-year warranty on the A10, I would contact the DME where you bought the machine. I use the A10. What you describe is a defect.

I use Smart Start to switch the blower on at beddy-bye time; BUT!
I turn my machine off manually, because the breeze wakes the bullfrog.

The mask blowing by itself scares my cat. If it didn't shut off automatically, he would attack my mask and kill it!!

Really? Sounds more like it is doing what the manual says it will do. His pressure is too low for that feature to work properly.

The OP has the problem even when the pressure is set to a minimum pressure of 7. If the manual is correct that the feature doesn't work at a pressure BELOW 7, then it should have worked when set to a minimum of 7, yes?.

To the OP: Has the machine ever shut down automatically after the mask was taken off? If it has never worked and you were at a pressure lower than 7. then the machine is working correctly, per the manual. However, if it has been shutting down automatically in the past and now suddenly doesn't anymore, then I still suspect a defect. You can tell what the pressure is when you take off the mask. It is in the middle of the circle on the display before the machine shuts off.

The Start/ Stop button on the A10 for Her does not impress me as something that will withstand 5 years of use, so the auto sense on and off is very useful on tthe A10. One of our fellow members who is using an A10 on a trial basis has reported that the Start/Stop switch was broken on the trial machine. My understanding is that the A10 model has only been out since last year.

Where in the manual does it require a certain pressure for the feature to work [and which manual are you referring to?]

AirSense 10 Cinical Guide, pp 32. Quoted twice above, but it refers to pillow type masks. You should be able to get the manual over at the "other" board.
Here: AirSense 10

Jay

Thanks for the reference. Since the pressure limit referrers only to pillows and I am using a full face mask, I will assume that I have a defective device

Nice cat

Your post shows that you are using the model 10. Does automatic shutoff work for you?

And, I (like Krelvin) think it's working as it's supposed to.

In the previous generations of the ResMed machines, when a full face mask was selected, it turned off the Smartstart feature.

in really OLD previous machines, like first software revision s9 machines, but every one I've had smart start worked with all mask selections.
