Now I do get to sleep somehow, but I don't sleep well. I usually fall asleep around 5 am and wake up around noon. I usually cannot fall asleep sooner. With the mask, it's even much more difficult. I will either not sleep 48 hours or I will wake up after 2 hours of wearing it. It's just that simple.
Two hours is better than nothing. As you do that every night, that 2 hours will get longer and longer. And eventually, you will be able to use it all night. Especially if you put it back on.
The vast majority of us spent weeks or months learning to sleep with our cpap mask. It wasn't easy. I had a few good nights in the beginning, but it took me 6 weeks to get more than 4 hours straight more than once a week. You have barely been at this. Don't assume you are different until it has been 6 months.
Come to think of it, since cpap has a high failure rate (mostly due to people not having ideal settings and ideal mask, and no support), a good portion of people quit. Then there is the chunk that sticks it out, finds help, and makes it work. There is probably a small group of people that do really well without any help. And then the group of people that cpap doesn't work for (but gave it a good try for many months, had help, and the settings were as ideal as possible).
Right now, you are in the first group, the huge group. In order to make it into the next group, you will have to keep at it. Keep in mind that you do not yet have the ideal mask or the ideal settings (since you don't know them yet). Kinda hard to have instant success. You are just going to have to have patience and perseverance.

- Anyone have a comment?
Here's a comment that YOU made several pages ago in this very thread (way back on page five).
Julie wrote:To all concerned - I have just (in response to PMs) told Enchanter to get a referral to a sleep specialist from the GP he'll be seeing in a few days for titration results because his insomnia of long standing is a separate issue from Cpap. His response was expected, not at all responsive to what I suggested, and was over-the-top a dramatic and foolish statement about his situation, so I said I could no longer participate in this endless story.
And all these pages later, you're *still* at it.
Looking for some validation now for your utter frustration? Do yourself (and everyone else) a favor and just STOP ALREADY. (Good luck with that.)
Oh, and posting a PM is a really shitty thing to do. P means PRIVATE.
And you don't think your post is equally as shitty?????
Is there really a need to pounce on Julie? Who are you to tell her what you think she should or should not do?

In the interests of PR not looking like a dork (having quoted my note) I did delete mine... but don't apologize for the sentiment because (as was already pointed out) what was said was not news, not really personal and I resent being called 'ridiculous' after everything that's gone on. Think what you like... sorry to have offended sensibilities. As I said, it's never happened before, won't happen again, but that was not what I expected to hear from him after all this time of putting up with his stuff and stroking his ego (would produce more PM's but won't), etc. etc. It's one thing to have problems processing data, or being unable to act in one's own interests, but another to turn on someone who's consistently tried to help, even if I said at one earlier point I'd (also) had enough. Sorry.

You're one serious hypocrite, ems. (It's okay for YOU to tell anyone who's frustrated by E to just stop posting in his threads, right? You've done that more than once.)
Get over yourself.

People, please don't pounce on Ems now, whatever your personal stuff with her... she's trying to be decent (more than I can say for myself) so don't start a whole new flame story here... she's also been trying to help Enchanter and has obviously got more endurance, not something to sneeze at in the circumstances.

Don't cry for me, Argentina. The truth is I couldn't care less about what you think.

I hope you don't mind that I'm reposting this, Zoocrew. It's too good of a post to keep hidden.

Thanks so much, Julie. Really nice of you to say that! Just thought I'd let you know that I couldn't care less about the pouncing. Just take a good look at the folks who are doing the pouncing thanks again

As one who has posted in this thread way more than I should have, I think it is time for all of us to refer Enchanter back to his doctor and gently encourage him to seek local help. His needs are beyond the scope of this forum.
Enchanter, if you really want to get copies of your tests which is a crucial first step to get you on the road to an optimal machine setting and mask, Julie and other posters have provided excellent advice on that. Please reread the advice.
Spending time on this forum and other one and going on a merry go around with all the questions you ask even if you had good intentions is simply not serving you well. It is up to you to get what you need locally and take the necessary steps to get on the path to wellness. Are you ready to do that?

Well written, stated, 49er. Unfortunately, others will continue their low life bickering in this thread and the value of your post will be mutilated and buried. Dan
