I don't like the idea of pressure on my nose so low down.
Also with the Hybrid I have that chin flap the keeps my jaw from flopping open while I sleep.

So, no I am not going to try it.

I am wondering about that "mouth open" part of the directions too but I haven't had a chance to really look into this mask. Maybe later I will get a chance to watch the video. Doesn't make sense to me and I can't see why it would matter.
The whole idea is to be able to mouth breath if you need to or want to....not to have to do it all the time.

Plus the tip of the nose, where itches typically happen, is covered by the mask. With the Innomed Hybrid I can scratch the tip without interfering with the mask.

I would like to try the Amara View, but I don't want to sink money into it while the Hybrid works so well for me.

Completely out of character, I ordered the new Amare. Cpap.com charged the full price, so ouch! But the shipping is free. Honestly, it was the 30 day trial period that sold me. Normally I won't return items after purchase just because I don't like them; in this case, Cpap.com was very up front about this and so I took them at their word. We will see. I hope that it will be Amare at first night! (sorry...).

I haven't tried many masks at all in the years since I've started cpap, so I thought that it was time to experiment. Back to good ol' Swift nasal pillows if this doesn't work out! My first and maybe only love...

I just found out about hybrid masks today...I sort of like the idea of a nasal pillow style mask with a mouth covering....hmmm. I'm not sure about the nasal interface with this Amare.

Did you call for the price? I called and the price is $120 and that's what I was charged. I was initially charged full price when I ordered on line and then I got an email adjusting the price to $120. I'd call and ask about it, I'm sure they'll adjust it down.

Apparently you have been using nasal pillows for some years, so it makes me curious why you would now want to try a FFM?

Maybe you can bookmark this thread and come back with a report on the Amara View after you have some time to try it.

As to why I would want to try a full face mask: good question. I've been very happy with my nasal pillows for all of the usual reasons. I did recently start using a chin strap, and it seems to help a bit. But my vibratory snore index has gone up while using the strap. I just thought that I might try a mask that would allow me to occasionally breath through my mouth without a penalty (if the Amara will do that) while not being as obtrusive as most full face masks. Plus, I could lose the chin strap. I may quickly learn that the Amara is more mask than I want, compared to the Swift nasal pillows. I have a good set up. I wanted to experiment and see if I could get something even better. I have 30 days to experiment for free--cpap.com will refund the cost of the mask. This last is why I'm doing this.

I didn't even know about hybrids masks until after ordering the Amara. I'll look into the model that you use. Maybe this is what I really want.

This new hybrid mask looks pretty nice to me. Going to try it out if the reviews look good. I hope it works good with a mouth piece too.

I just recently started using the Amara View. I don;t open my mouth unless it just happens at night. I have no problems with it other than slight nose underside irritation. Here are my comments from the other thread.

I just switched to this mask because the design sounded great. I was using an Airfit F10 previously. I tend to sleep mostly on my side. Here are my observations:
-I can wear my reading glasses with no interference. It's much better than the F10 or any other full face mask in that regard.
-I find the mask to be more comfortable than the F10. For me it gets a better seal with less tension on the straps. It has less contact area on the face.
-It's much less claustrophobic than other full face masks I've tried.
-The headgear is more comfortable as it has a greater contact area creating less pressure. My F10 straps left indentations in the back of my neck and on top of my head. This did not occur with the Amara View. There seems to be more padding in the Amara headgear as well.
-My F10 leak rate was running ~ 8L/min. It has dropped to less than 5L/min with the Amara View so far. Need more time to confirm this improvement.
-Not sure if it's a result of the mask, by my events/hour have dropped in the first few nights from ~1.2 average to 0.2 average. Need more nights to confirm this as a real improvement.
-The nose seal slightly irritated the underside of my nose. I may be sensitive in this area as I couldn't stand nasal pillows due to nostril irritation. I can live with this level of irritation though on the Amaa View.
-I'm not a big fan of the plastic attachment clips or the quick disconnect on the tube. I find the F10 to be more easily removeable, but I think I can adapt to the Amara.

Are you saying the Amara View does not have the quick disconnect on the tube or it is not as easily removable as the F10? Thanks for the great review.

It has a quick disconnect, it's just different that the F10. Not really an issue.

Yes, I had previous tried nasal pillows and they irritated my nostrils. My first mask was a nasal mask which was ok, but I had to use a chin strap due to my mouth sometimes opening at night. It was also annoying if your nose itched as I had to take the mask off. So I thought nasal pillows would be cool. I tried them and they were very comfortable overall, but my nostril openings got irritated and red from the silicone or something so I went back to the nasal mask. Then I caught a cold and the nasal mask was terrible so my RT recommended using a full face while I was sick. So I got an F10 and decided I liked it better than the nasal with chin strap. When I saw an add for the Amara View i thought it was a clever design with no nasal pillows so I thought it would be nice. No problem itching your nose either. I like it a lot so far although it still does irritate my nose columella slightly, but not near as bad as the nasal pillows.
