Agreed. I have been here 3 years now, and this past year has been getting worse. There are a few posters that seem to be quicker to jump on people and more rude. I have been online since 1993 back when we had the old newsgroups, so I am used to needing a thick skin. But even so, I have reduced some of my posting as I seem to have picked up somebody that dislikes me and seems to enjoy insulting me when there is an opportunity. This group has helped me so much, and I want others to have the same success that I have been able to experience. So, I stick around. But I sure wish there was a way to either weed out the bullies or get them to tone it down.

Neither Morbius nor I alluded to Enchanter being autistic. I looked through all of Morbius posts in this thread but maybe you are referring to something else. I don't know.

Enchanter was having trouble communicating his needs. That is a different issue from autism but certainly within the realm of discussion. OP was highlighting "Behavior in this Forum". My post was a response to the suggestion "to not allow anyone to get away with plain rudeness because they have AS". IMHO nobody should have to prove or admit to an autism spectrum disorder to deserve compassion and good behavior from expert forum members.

Actually... you said "even so, the correct behavior is not to escalate rudeness particularly when one or both sides of the dialog may truly have an autism spectrum disorder. Denigrating someone with autism is not a unique occurrence in this forum."

And it was McGaggle (not Morbius) who said "Robysue, thank you for explaining Echanter's situation. I don't know many people who are on the autism spectrum, so didn't pick up on 'cues' in his posting."

So... I had used the word 'alluded' and that's just what it was...

Sure.

Because of their respective sizes, when you hit them with the 12 gauge, a groundhog will mostly stay together, but gophers tend to just like disappear.

I've been here almost 3 years too... I like the diversity of the inputs & personalities.

bullying is always going to be around... some folks just have forceful personalities..

I'm going to have to see about getting a live trap and moving him a mile or so down the way. I don't have what it takes to kill an animal. Not vegan so I'll eat them just won't do the deed. I hear they like cantaloupe so maybe that will entice him. Bummer!

On the other hand, One of the baby squirrels came out of the tree next to my back porch and said hi to me! Was about 4 inches long with a tail longer than it's body!

What do you plan on wearing when you "come over to borrow tools"?

It has taken me a while to try and figure out what I wanted to say. I have been here less than a year so I'm not an old timer but I have discovered that there is a sense of friends and family here like Den said. Even though some may be cousins I don't claim! And some that I would like to wash their mouth out.
When I see things that I disagree with, that's it, I disagree. I don't try to lead a dog pack for a take down. I agree maybe some need to tone it down but I would rather see the true personality of a person than one who uses multiple ID's and even guest to hide behind and pretend to be something they're not to stir up the pot.
I have learned a lot from members and even had a few laughs and sorrows.
So my advice for a newbe would be to take what you can learn from and enjoy all the personalities. Even the ones you don't agree with or like.
