what you're describing that you believe is not valid scientifically.
you've not said what machine you use, but if it's a respironics, look at the top leak line.
that's how much air is coming out of the vent ports, and leaking around the mask, in total.
compare the stated vent rates of the two masks...

initial post stated: RESMED Airsense 10 Autoset with Fisher & Paykel Simplus Vs. RESMED P10 Nasal Pillows
also stated no mask leaks...
Can Resmed or SleepyHead read the data you reference?

cbb to go back and look through all your posting history to find out if maybe you mentioned something about what you're using... that's why there's an equipment section in the profile that people use.
resmed machines report excess leak, so, if you're not seeing leaks, then you're not losing more air than the mask is designed for.
check the posted vent rates in the manuals.

Vent rates not listed in either manual...

vent rates are listed (as krelvin pointed out) in pretty much all, if not *all* cpap manuals as well as resistance and such. though, I admit, some mfgrs do a better job of it than others.

RESMED Airsense 10 Autoset:
Fisher & Paykel Simplus 40 L/m at 14 CM
RESMED P10 Nasal Pillows 40L/m at 14 CM
Both FFM and NP are exactly the same. I will have to ask my RT, N and Dr for their expert opinion. Feels like a LOT more pressure with the NP.

tell ya what, get a oxygen adapter, and some tubing, and then stick the tube down in a tall glass of water, and measure the pressure for yourself.

telling you a way that you can *see* what pressures are being applied is rude and unwelcome?
ok, was you wish.

You forgot the part about taping a ruler to the tubing.
It really does work.

But you said,

PailRider was just delivering his version of "technical".

I'll bet you a dollar that the reason that it feels like there's a LOT more pressure with the pillows is that when you're wearing pillows, you have more pressure on the inside of your nose than you do on the outside, effectively blowing it up like a balloon.
when you're wearing a FFM, you've got the same pressure on the inside, and outside of your nose, so the feeling is quite different.
I never experimented much with other masks, so your comments made me think the ballooning is one reason I like my Hybrid so much.
